What you'll do
Grab your binoculars and get ready to head to Tom Miner Basin!
Did you know grizzly bears once roamed throughout the entire western United States, through the Great Plains, into Mexico, and along rivers in desert habitats? Sadly, control actions and habitat loss has eliminated them from 98 percent of their original domain in the U.S.
But you can still find them in Montana!
These awe-inspiring giants tend to be solitary animals, so while there is no guarantee that every tour group will see one, there are usually a wide range of creatures to be spotted! From grizzly bears, to black bears, to mule deer, to elk, to raptors, and more. To view our furry friends from a safe distance, we have a spotting scope and binoculars. If you have a pair of your own, bring them along!
Book now for your chance to glimpse these majestic symbols of the wild.
Other things to note:
It's important for our tour participants to understand that seeing a grizzly bear is not guaranteed!

Welcome to Erik’s Ranch & Retreats. A solution that was born out of love.
Our story began in 2008 as Kathryn Nordberg, CEO and founder, searched for options that would provide her son, Erik, a moderately functioning young adult on the autism spectrum, the kind of life he deserves – active and full of possibility, independence, and purpose. She quickly found that there were few good options. So, in the past few years, Kathryn and a team of professionals have developed an innovative model for young adults with autism.
Kathryn's goal for a better life for those with autism is the foundation behind Erik's Ranch & Retreats.

This was a very fun experience. We followed our guides to a known location where bears are commonly seen; we would not have known where to go. I suppose a local might have known but we would never have known so we feel the experience was worth it. The guide we had was very knowledgeable about bears and patient when viewing the scope to find the bears. They also made the experiene special by supplying us with wine and cheese:).
