Exploring Hong Kong's Craft Beer Scene

Hong Kong, Hong Kong

Experience hosted by Lee

3 hours
Includes transportation
Up to 6 people
Hosted in English

What you'll do

My focus is on Craft Beer bars, through which you can have a good grasp of the craft beer revolution (started about 6-7 years ago like many other parts of the world) in Hong Kong: how it emerged from the city's unique historical and culture identity, and how it would fit into and potentially shape this society.

We will visit four bars / bottles shop, each of them offering a unique collection of local and imported craft beers. Through sharing participants can taste a wider variety of brands and styles. The host will make recommendation, tell stories, and most importantly facilitate discussions among guests.

-Warnings-

The experience is about tasting good beer and making friends, not about binge drinking or other forms of night life. People expecting these should go elsewhere.

The hosts assumes that all guests are law-abiding, mature adults who will be responsible for their own behaviours.
Guests are expected to control themselves to avoid drunkenness and other discomforts.
Any disturbance to other guests or members of the public will not be tolerated and will result in expulsion from the group without refund, and police intervention when necessary.

My day time job is a teacher, and I have undergone training and examination to be a Beer Judge through the Beer Judge Certification Programme in my spare time.

My vision on this experience is to make it a "student"-centred tutorial on the topic of "Beer, culture and City"

An avid traveller myself, I know what tourists' needs and expectations are and what nice touches of the host would make an experience great.

Where you'll be

I have at least two places in mind which are really off-radar. They have beer styles you don't expect to find in this part of the world. The other places have their unique niches also.

We really enjoyed our night out with Lee! We have been to Hong Kong many times, but he took us to a few new spots that we will definitely return to on our own.

Honestly, this night was amazing. In fact, as I write this, we are still touring with Lee. My friends and I really enjoyed seeing a unique side of Hong Kong with Lee. We felt that we experienced the city like a local while also having amazing craft beers!

Lee was great and easy to get along with. He is obviously passionate about beer and knows spots I would never have thought existed. What a badass. Had a great time and option to keep tasting beers after the tour ended. Also the fried spam is not bad ;) Gom bui! Cheers!

Got to know the well kept craft beer places . Most, if not all, had their own quirks and history which LP (Lee) readily shared with us. LP also knows how to build camaraderie and it was fun all through out.
