What you'll do

1) #LATTE ART! Learn the basics of brewing an amazing cup of Espresso, foaming milk and doing latte art on a fresh cappuccino or latte. I will supply everything including Artisan coffee beans. Learn about the importance of the machine, the grinder, texturing milk foam

WARNING: When you realise how great a drink you can create on your own Home machine, you may visit cafes less or stop going all! This will be a life-changing workshop ;)

2) History about my house which was hand-built in 1910 and an overview of this working class neighbourhood and its history. The next spot to Gentrify? Time will tell..

3) Hit the Bikes! Cruise the beautiful historic Canal Lachine and stop at the famous Atwater market. Abandoned factories, breweries, condo-filled Griffintown, and old Montreal. There is a BIXI stand near my house, and we will bike around 15min to the market, and after the break bike another 15min to Old Port - super relaxed, easy and scenic.

4) MORE COFFEE! Visit *the coolest* coffee shop in Old Montreal to finish tour.

BONUS - INSIDER TIPS: Best restaurants, poutine, bars, attractions etc. Hack your trip ;) I am a perpetual tourist here, let my knowledge help you!

Once you learn the basics - you will honestly make better coffee than many professional shops with $15,000 machines. (this is not an exaggeration haha)
Other things to note
Bring cash to buy things at the Market or at the cafe at end of the tour

MSG ME FIRST BEFORE BOOKING :) Say hi, tell me about your latte goals lol and CONFIRM THE DATE - I am often out of town

I'm a full-time flaneur, city explorer, coffee addict and life-hacker. After years depending on coffee shops for a decent cappuccino (.. often disappointed) I decided to learn my own #latte art with a Gaggia machine at home and 3rd wave artisan beans. You can create a high-quality espresso shot and micro-foamy deliciousness at home and this workshop will give you the confidence to!

Not so long ago I ran my own Pub Crawl in Europe with oftentimes 40+ people on it. I miss the social aspect and hearing people's stories, but time to tone down the party aspect ;) ... so let's go... Cycling!

Passionate about biking as the best way to see a city, I will take you on my daily route as we explore the city. I was doing 20-30km daily commuting throughout Montreal with 2 toddlers on my Dutch "Mamafiets" bike this summer.

Where you'll be

1) We will start in my own century home - a "shoebox" design that was hand-built by the previous owner in 1910. Crooked floors and walls, high ceilings, Railway tracks! supporting the house... loads of character.

2) Biking along the Canal Lachine bike paths - historic & beautiful canal.

3) Famous Art Deco Atwater Market with fresh produce + delicious food!

4) *The Coolest* Coffee shop in the city is located right in the heart of Old Montreal

We're glad that we booked this experience! The experience starts in a residential neighborhood outside the city center and ends in Old Montreal. So you get to visit both non-touristy and touristy parts of the city. The bike was leisurely, along the river, passing through historical industrial sites and a lively farmer's market. David shared lots of interesting stories about the city along the way, and also shared his recommendation on things to do and places to go at the end of the Experience.

We had a great time. It was a neat experience to learn the art of espresso making. Renting bikes(from Bixi, read the fine print) and cycling to Atwater market and Old Montreal was awesome. We really enjoyed our time with David!

Meeting David was awesome! We learned essential cappuccino and espresso making techniques and got to meet his super cute family. The coffee shop he took us to was really grand and one of a kind. He also gave us some great suggestions for food/bars. More inclined than ever to purchase our own espresso machine now!

We had a wonderful time with Dave and his family. He was very knowledgeable in the art of latte making and gave great insight into the materials and practices of foaming and brewing at home. The second half of the tour was on bixi (docking station) bikes. We rode from his house to Old Montreal with a stop half way at a lovely market. He shared lots of interesting history on the area along with insider tips and recommendations. If you are interested in taking the tour, I would highly recommend it! On our tour half of the time was spent biking (easy ride) and his kids (almost 3 and 5?) joined us and were delightful. Dave made us feel like part of his family!
