What you'll do

We'll start with a visit to the best food markets in my area, where we'll shop for organic fruits. This will be the perfect introduction to our language class. You'll hear how we speak Spanish in the streets and the common phrases we use to chitchat with market vendors. Afterwards, we will make fresh juice from the fruits we've purchased and learn more Spanish and Cuban phrases. Between a fun Spanish class and the making of delicious tropical juice, we will have a nice afternoon "a lo Cubano"—the Cuban way.
Other things to note
"At bad times, good face," is a Cuban phrase that means that you should smile and overcome a situation that can occur out of nowhere (for example—bad weather). Come ready to enjoy and learn.

Adis was amazing. She taught tips about buying fruit and cuban money and her lesson on cuban phrases was great. The fruit that she bought and the juice she made was delicious. I highly recommend this experience. Adis was like a Cuban big sister giving you all the tips to navigate through Cuba. I would suggest you do this experience at the beginning of the trip so that you can apply all she teaches while you are there

Adis was great, we learned some unique cuban phrases and how they became to be part of the cuban slang. Walking around and learning about the different types of fruit markets was very interesting, the juice was great, and Adis was a good teacher. Would definitely recommend this experience.

Adis was so informative and wonderful about showing me around her town. I'm not much of a language student, but her Cuban Spanish lesson was awesome and actually was very useful for the rest of my trip. The lingo she teaches you will set you apart from other tourists, so I highly recommend doing this experience. Try and do it as early as you can so you can get the most out of it!

This was such a fun morning. We went to a few markets to get fruit and learn about the neighbourhood. We were then given a lesson about the Cuban language...I wish we had done this tour earlier in the trip so we could have used these language tips earlier. We were so full by the end of the tour from all of the fruit and juice!

We had a good time with Adis. She was very friendly and patient. My friend and I joined another group of 3 on the tour. Adis was attentive to everyone and taught us a lot about the history of cuba and the culture. And it was great visiting the different types of markets. If you want a spanish lesson for part of the tour, she is a great teacher. Or if you just want to talk, she's very conversational. Plus the juice was good :-)

The activity was really interesting and fun. Adis spoke English very well and explained things thoroughly and in a fun way. It was interesting learning about the different ways the Cuban people have to buy their food and to interact with the vendors. I was born in Cuba, speak Spanish, and left as a little girl. This experience was extremely meaningful for me. To be able to see and eat some of the tropical fruits i grew up with was fantastic. To be able to re experience the language and the culture was very moving. The talk after the market was very interesting. My husband, who speaks little Spanish, appreciated Adis’ explanations of the idiomatic expressions Cubans use and the sue of the diminutive etc. I was privileged to meet Adis’ parents. They were very gracious and “cariñosos” and interested to hear about my Cuban roots etc.
