What you'll do

Get out of the city and into nature with a husky hike - a guided nature walk with your own sled dog.

Meet and spend one-on-one time with a Siberian Husky sled dog.

After a brief tour of the homestead, we will visit the dog yard and you will meet your hiking partner. You will learn to harness your husky, and then together we will embark on a nature walk through the old growth boreal forest that surrounds the homestead.

We will point out wildflowers, trees, and animals on our walk up to the top of the ridge, where vast panoramic views of the Chatanika River Valley and the White Mountains await.

We will sit on top of the ridge and enjoy a hot drink, home-baked treat, and the company of your sled dog partner before we descend down through the cranberry bushes and ferns back to the kennel.

On this tour you will have the opportunity to learn about Siberian Huskies, the natural history of Alaska, sled dogs, the Iditarod Sled Dog Race (Lisbet is a 3-time finisher), and off-grid living.

This trip is suitable for ALL ages and is easily customized to meet your needs.
Other things to note
Bring hiking shoes, light jacket in case of wind/rain, water bottle, sunscreen, and sunglasses. Be prepared to walk up and downhill on uneven terrain.

Born and raised in Alaska, I grew up in a dog mushing family. My family operates the oldest Siberian Husky kennel in the world. I am three-time finisher of the Iditarod, the longest sled dog race in the world. Prior to starting my ecotourism company (Arctic Dog Adventure Co.), I worked as a musher and expedition guide for outfitters in Alaska and Arctic Norway and have over a decade of experience guiding dog sled tours and expeditions. I hold a degree in Northern Studies and History from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and in addition to running my off-grid homestead, my kennel, and my eco-tour company, I teach dog mushing at the college level at the University of Alaska Anchorage. I feel at home in the boreal forest of Interior Alaska and love sharing the northern landscape with others!

It was a quite pleasant experience. Loved the dogs to start with (so cute and extremely clever), but Lisbet passion towards what she dreams about is something we don't realize if we are blended daily routine in city. Great place to visit.

This was a great experience. All the dogs seemed to be happy and you get to pick your favorite one to go on the hike with you. It was fun listening to all the stories Lisbet has about the dogs, racing and living in Alaska in general.

Lisbet’s husky hike was a great experience. She was really friendly and personable. The dogs were really well behaved. And overall the hike was really great. Would definitely recommend.

What an amazing experience we had with Lisbet and her wonderful dogs! I really enjoyed the hike, the wild blueberries, and all of Lisbet's stories about her life and career with the dogs. She truly loves Alaska and the sport of dogsledding and she is an excellent ambassador for both.

A five star experience is not sufficient to describe our time on the homestead and in the dog yard! It was beyond perfect. Lisbet and her team were warm, patient and communicative above and beyond our expectations about the dogs that they obviously love and care for and Alaska. I cannot say enough positive things about this experience!
