What you'll do

This is the first day, first step.

We begin with introductions, a big picture covering 300 hours to make you a herbalist.
Then we finetune our plan, adapt

We will leisurely walk about enchanting nature, and identify about 20-50 medicinal plants and few fungi, depending upon the season.

We learn the basics about the various ways we can extract and preserve their goodness. Today, we examine the finer tips and techniques of drying the plants we study, as well as water based infusions to extract

Each of these plants are discussed in detail, especially identification, habitats, known medicinal uses and research, other uses, and conservation concerns. You will be allowed to collect some of the plants we study - from village lands only. As we sample our first teas - water based infusions, we begin thinking of blends of herbs to improve tastes or healing efficacy.
Research and enquiry skills: you learn about the top web resources when researching a plant. You also begin sharing your observations with the world.
You are given full compiled information on the plants and other aspects covered, from authentic sources, to take back, and to re-visit.

We will also attempt to appreciate, observe, identify, photograph, share, contribute, not just plants, but also birds, butterflies, etc. Come join this growing community of nature lovers cum citizen scientists and conservationists
Other things to note
Your safety is first. While we study all kinds of plants, even miniscule safety issues are addressed and followed. Wildlife, flora, conservation and laws, explained when needed and followed strictly

Even as a child, I was a committed gardener and explorer, in awe and in love with nature. While teaching in Himalayan residential schools for more than a decade, I was attempting to bring out the naturalist in a few.
Today, I live in a tiny Gharwali village, and, with my Pahari Nurseries, research and grow plants, make useful gardens, educate people, and run a herbal enterprise. Do check us out on Google.

The aim is to help to deepen your understanding, love, and enquiry of our natural environment, to nurture the naturalist, and help you to start your own natural pharmacopoeia

I teach a vast plethora of flora and their uses and concerns, via a series of walks and experiences, in often hidden paradises around here. Medicinal herbalism, fungi, natural farming, and conservation, and extraction/ preservation processes....

Where you'll be

You arrive at the Benog Forest Sanctuary, one of the most pristine, beautiful, and holy, bio-diverse hot spots, a hidden gem of Mussoorie.

Ideally, we walk about 8 km, but we will adapt the walk to suit your needs. Half the walk is along the stream at the valley floor, and half is a circuit of the valley and forest from higher. We also visit my nursery, and there is a hidden and forgotten historical-heritage site that we rest at, and a temple
