Hi I'm Sachiko, an Airbnb host in Sapporo, Hokkaido.
I was born and raised here in Hokkaido.
I have been organizing international gatherings for many years including a Shodou workshop for non-Japanese people.
What I love most about Shodou is that it can help you convey your emotions and feelings.
I can provide you a lesson on the basic way of writing with an ink-dipped brush.

We live in Japan and wanted to know more about Japanese calligraphy. Sachiko was a great host, she answered all of our questions with enthusiasm and spoke to us like friends! She seems to truly enjoy sharing her culture and knowledge. The whole experience was interesting, from learning the basic strokes, practicing them with some kanjis, and finally writing our names on a postcard! Thank you Sachiko for this great moment.

Really nice experience. She picked us up at the subway station and drove us to her house. She had already set everything up so we could start right away. She started with a little bit of history about the writing system. Than we started to practice the basic strokes a than combined them. At the end we wrote our names in kanji.

We had a wonderful experience with Sachiko! She was very sweet and nice. She gave us a brief background history about calligraphy and started our lesson right away. The lesson was well-paced. We didn't feel rushed or overwhelmed. It was a relaxing experience.
She's also a very kind person! She recommended a few places to us which made our Sapporo experience better.

Sachiko was wonderful -she came all the way from the other part of town to take two of my kids and in her car since it was a very hot day when we got to her lovely place,She offered us a cold nice drink and some sweets. The class itself was above my expectations
She taught us the basic move to create the letters and the way to hold the brush and after my kids got some basic-training she taught how to write your name on a hand traditional fan .
if you 2 -3 hours on your hands I would highly recommend to do this workshop.it was inspiring interesting and an experience we will remember and take with us for life
