What you'll do

I want to show you some hidden gems of Zagreb, street art, atmospheric courtyards, passages and other cozy nooks, which are not so obvious and easily found. We'll start on the main square, pass through the farmers' market, see a clandestine mural with Gulliver and Lilliputians, proceed to Tkalčićeva and hear some amusing stories about the most elite brothel of Habsburg Empire, take a tranquil staircase to Upper town and explore its picturesque courtyards, go down to the colorful Art park, pass by the most beautiful art nouveau facade in town, and admire the curious mix of buildings on the Republic of Croatia square. If you are not tired, we can also visit courtyard of Studentski Centar (10 minutes away from the Republic of Croatia square) – a very interesting and totally untouristic place, with a lot of history, nice street art, and the most intriguing piece of architecture in Zagreb, of worldwide significance!
My idea is to take you to photogenic spots, the tempo of our walk will be adjusted to your wishes, so you can take your time to make photos.
In winter months, if it's cold, we can make a coffee/tea break to warm up , according to your wishes :)
Other things to note
The tour can be modified according to your wishes, e.g. with more focus on street art, art nouveau, historic palaces, remarkable architecture, interesting monuments/sculptures in public space etc.

I’m a freelance translator, journalist in the field of art and culture and photographer with a passion for traveling. I’m very much into arts, culture and history. For a while I worked as a tour guide with a focus on tours related to art and architecture. I finished a 6-month course for tour leader, and due to my passion for art, culture and history I gained considerable knowledge in these fields. I have a lot of non-formal experience as a guide a well – as a member of international student association, I was a guide to foreign students who came to the exchange programs to Zagreb. As an Airbnb host, I showed around to my guests whenever I had time - my references speak enough. In recent years I've been writing articles about Zagreb for the platform Spotted by Locals. I really enjoy sharing the special places in my city and insider tips!

Where you'll be

I want to show you some beautiful courtyards on Upper town, hidden behind the closed doors, street art which is not easily found nor on obvious locations, and some passages, corners, staircases, small streets which are not on the main touristic routes. And the courtyard of Studentski centar, which hides a unique architectural gem not mentioned in any standard guidebooks. And during this walk I will share some of my photographic knowledge :)

Mirna is knowledgeable, thoughtful, and thorough. She makes an effort to customize the pace and the content to deliver a great experience. After the first few minutes it was clear that we could have spent the entire day touring because she doesn’t lack for content. She was able to field every question I asked without fail. Her passion about her craft and her home was the magic that made the experience great. Highly recommended!

Mirna gave a lovely and unique tour of the city full of interesting details which would otherwise have remained hidden and unknown. Her passion for Zagreb history and knowledge about current events and happenings in the city made the time pass quickly. During the walk, she gave a lively account of the most important sights/people/events in the city, but also added her own comments and observations as a local, which provided precious insight. She was kind, caring and extremely friendly and adjusted everything to the person taking part in the tour. It was a pleasure to take this tour and time well spent in her company!

Mirna’s guided tour was excellent! Beyond my expectations! Mirna perfectly combined interesting stories, relaxed atmosphere and exciting details. She adapted the tour completely to the needs of me and my baby I was carrying, in every possible aspect - pace, tone, loads of additional questions, beastfeeding breaks...., without sacrificying the tour content - amusement of her stories, the most peculiar details of the city and its life, insights in the most relevant cultural, historic and social city affairs. Also, I had the best ice-cream ever, thanks to her recommendation, and one of the cosiest coffee. Her home-made secret ingredient for an unforgettable coffee was a surprising cherry-on-top of the tour! Net, net, it was a great, personalized experience I would recommend to everyone. And although I know the city well, I can’t wait to join Mirna’s tour again, for further fun and interesting conversations!

Mirna's tour enabled me to connect with the city in a unique way: she made each place we visited come alive with its story-- stories you won't find in guide books. She is a great person to spend time with, answered my questions expertly, and even had a local treat for me. (I was the only one on that particular day's tour; it's so good of her to run the tour even if there's only one participant.) Mirna's wonderful attitude made me forget that I was actually on a guided tour: instead she made me feel like I was shown around by a dear, knowledgeable friend in her hometown, a town I feel I already know well, thanks to Mirna's expertise. Do yourself a favour and book Mirna's tour of Zagreb!
