Sunrise hike through volcanic wonders on Etna

Take a climb before dawn along the northern slope of Etna with a volcanologist and watch nature awaken in a spectacle of light and shadow. I’ll take you on hidden paths beyond the unforgettable views and give you a visceral sense of the life of the volcano. • I’ll welcome you at Rifugio Citelli and equip you with headlam, jacket, helmet, stickers and all necessary gear. Throughout our journey, I’ll share Etna stories and insights. • We hike through serene undergrowth to the northern edge of the Bove Valley, where we will stop to admire extinct craters and recent lava fields. The first light of dawn will reveal a unique landscape between the summit craters and the Ionian coast of Sicily. • Depending on the conditions of the volcano, we will explore a lava flow cave at night, the southernmost beech forest in Europe, and the relationship between higher altitude human settlements and a hostile, dynamic landscape. If you prefer classic sightseeing tours just to take pictures, this tour is not for you! :)

Embark on an unforgettable sunset hike with me, a volcanologist and geologist, to discover the largest extinct crater of Mount Etna, venturing through some of its most striking landscapes and breathtaking vistas. • Begin your adventure at Rifugio Citelli, a mountain hut where you’ll get outfitted with helmets, flashlights, trekking poles, and other safety gear. • I’ll lead you on an hour-long hike with scenic stops to Monte Frumento delle Concazze. This 2,150-meter-tall extinct lateral crater is believed to have formed more than 3,500 years ago. • As the sun sets, enjoy panoramic views of the reddish rock and the east coast of Sicily and warm up with a hot drink before trekking back along two recent lava flows—a sign of the volcano’s dramatic power and energy. You’ll leave with a spectacular group photo and a deeper appreciation of what continues to drive Mount Etna’s eruptions today.

Choose the dishes you would like to cook with the Chef, based on the fresh and seasonal ingredients you will find at the market. Transfer to the Restaurant "Ahoy Bistrò Siciliano" in Giardini Naxos (included in the price), 15 minutes from the market, facing the sea and the Bay of Naxos and Taormina. Enjoying Catania...

I will lead you in Carlo Alberto Square's Market, a place that I know very well. First we will go to have a typical breakfast in one of my favourite cafè in the historic center of the city. Then we will go towards the market to taste olives, pickles, cheese, salami, a glass of Sicilian wine , sicilian bread, fresh baked breadsticks . Then we will go to buy and taste fruit. Subsequently I will show the second-hand dress market and then we will go to drink a sicilian beverage; obviously during the tour I will suggest where to buy fruits and vegetables if you want. I will provide to tell you some secret about Catania City. .I will introduce Catania so you will feel at home. This isn't the typical guided tour, this is an experience and if you will try it, you will find a friend in Catania: me! Other things to note Dear guests, here in Catania Summer is very hot! Take with you a bag when you can put your fruit and I suggest also an hat, to protect your head from the sun. Discovering Etna with a local guide

A full immersion in the highest active volcano in Europe, which for millennia has fascinated philosophers, artists, scientists and travelers from all over the world. During the experience, crossing Etna villages with their characteristic black "basalt" color and the luxuriant Etna countryside, we will reach the starting point of our trekking route. It will be surprising to walk through dense forests of birch, pine or beech, and then suddenly cross what the locals know as "Sciara", the desolately fascinating volcanic desert. We will admire all the beauty and contradictions of this ever-changing volcano: between extinct craters, now barren and now luxuriant landscapes, with a "heroic" flora that has adapted to extreme conditions. During about 2½h-4h trekking route, we will discover several kinds of volcanic formations and we will have a picnic in the woods during which I will offer you a glass of Etna wine. It will be an authentic experience, during which I will tell you about our "Muntagna", from the perspective of those who have always lived it from its slopes. Unmissable stop will be the fish market, where you can fully experience the folklore of the city of Catania. Discover Etna With an Adventurer

WE GUIDE YOU OUT OF TOURISTS BUSY WAYS. THIS NOT A TOURISTS TOUR, THIS IS NOT STANDARD. As we are two passionate and dinamic friends at work in team, we offer nothing standard and touristic, but a real experience different day by day. So, this is what we offer, but don't esitate to ask for different timing and places (sunset, sunrise, night hiking...etc etc)! We climb up the slopes of the Etna volcano, encountering different landscapes; forest, lava desert, caves/lava tube (this is not 100% sure), sandy deserts and other amazing points of views! Then, we get to a perfect place to observe the summit craters and the Bove Valley (the biggest one on Mt.Etna), the reason why Mt.Etna is part of the UNESCO heritage! If an eruption starts, we choose the best and safest spot to admire it :) We will descend through fun sandy canyons, which will take us to the top of some ancient craters born during last years! This is not a mass tousistic experience. This is for travelers that love walking, trekking and the adventure. Are you ready?
