“This was our weekend away out of COVID- same people but a change of scenery and WHAT a change this was! We drove round which is 2 hours if a little more of corners and turns but totally worth it. This is the best kitted out AirBnB we have stayed in to date- everything was well thought out, lovely spaces and spectacular views. You totally need a 4WD to tackle the drive but if you pack the essentials then you're cosy for the weekend. Theres cool touches like multiple ways to brew your coffee... great indoor/ outdoor furniture to easily move and enjoy the views, cosy blankets for the bed or sitting on the deck with, I got stuck into a jigsaw there too! The amenities are fantastic and we packed our usual 'extras' that most AirBnbs fall short on (toilet paper amounts, sharp knives, lighter, blankets, spare towel etc) but we didn't need any of them- Elizabeth has catered for it all above and beyond. We had a hit of golf on Saturday and came across a heap of the locals who were absolutely wonderful too- totally peaceful and feel so rested. Totally recommended. 10/10!”
The Land before Time The Glass House of Waterfall Bay: Arguably the most beautiful house in the Sounds the Glass House showcases true harmony between nature and architecture. This magnificent glass and steel house lies behind a screen of native bush with the only inhabitants for 25 acres being quails, tuis, kereru and wekas. The house consists of three magnificent pavilions over 100 metres with soaring ceilings and matai polished floors.
“This house has to be seen to be believed! It is absolutely stunning!! So spacious and stylish inside and out; our group felt like celebrities staying here. If you're looking for somewhere special and unique, you have to stay in this house. Can't recommend highly enough!!”

“This was our best Airbnb experience, and we've had some really amazing stays. We arrived by the Mail boat, Marty met us at the wharf, we felt so privileged to be the ones getting off in this bit of paradise. Just meters from the water's edge was the cottage, a really special feeling sort of place. The log stove was lit when we arrived and it was nice and cozy. We took our own food, but the staples were there along with some fresh herbs that we cooked with, everything else was provided. Marty gave us a copy of his sold-out book about his life in the Sounds & beyond. We enjoyed as entertainment and a background to our own adventure. It was really good. We rowed the boat across the bay, since we were celebrating our anniversary, it was a bit like the "owl & the pussy-cat", later we took a walk on the Nydia track to see/feed the tame eels, before enjoying afternoon tea with our hosts and hearing more of Sabine's story... We slept nicely on a futon style bed (not low, tho') cozy & warm. With 2 daybeds in the lounge, you could lay around and enjoy the view & birdsong all day long. Yes, we didn't want to leave, but the boat came, took us to lunch nearby, then a bit of postal deliveries along the Sounds before returning to Havelock. We are already planning another visit with our friends, some of us will walk-in on the track and meet us at the cottage. And we are hoping to have Sabine & Marty visit our Airbnb in Lower Moutere, near Motueka on the way to the Able Tasman, "the Minty Caravan". We did our homework to finding the best place in the Sounds and still fate had it's way to put us here. I couldn't have been better.”
