Cozy, 12 x12’ sleeping cabin on three acre property in the Ohia forest in Mountain View. Situated four miles off Hwy 11 between Hilo and Volcano National Park, come try off-grid living in a private setting. Fully equipped with solar lighting, propane on-demand hot water and great wireless internet. The 1400’ elevation makes for cool evenings and comfortable sleeping. The shared kitchen and full bath are located just steps away in a separate building. Kitchen has a gas stove and full sized refrigerator. Laundry facilities are located here as well and free to use. Rural location provides privacy and quiet. Volcano National Park is 20 minutes away, Hilo 25. Keau’u is less than 10 miles and offers gas, groceries, post office, urgent care and limited fast food.

We are located between two of the Big Islands most iconic areas; Hawaii Volcano National Park and Hilo's beaches, approximately both a 20-minute drive from the studio. We also have several cats, some chickens, and our neighbors have a cow and dogs. All of them make noise, including coqui frogs at night.

Surrounded by orchids and other tropical flowers, the cottage is located on two lovely landscaped acres - 30 minutes from Hilo or Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The property is solar powered, an off-grid sustainable system with 4G phone service and fiber optic wifi. The last two miles are on unpaved gravel road in variable condition depending upon how much rain we've had lately. Four wheel drive isn't necessary but an SUV or similar vehicle with higher clearance is recommended.

Our Ohana has easy access to main road but far enough away to be in complete silence and zero light pollution. The studio is separate from main house with a kitchenette, full bathroom with tub and central air conditioning. We had a wonderful time at Michael’s ohana ! It is a very peaceful place surrounded by nature and we loved it. Michael shared precious suggestions about the activities near his place (like going to see the stars at Mauna Kea and watching the Kilauea Volcano livestream to know when to go watch it erupt - and went on site to see actual lava for the first time of our lives !!). We made a lot of incredible memories, mahalo again for everything !

I stayed with my husband and our toddler for one week. We all agree that Bill and Dawn have something truly special here. Bill and Dawn are very friendly and provide a whole binder with lots of great recommendations. The pictures really don‘t do the size of the property justice, we had ample room and everything was clean and in perfect condition. We loved being in this charming home away from home with a beautiful jungle feel to it. Anybody who is looking for a get away to unwind would do themselves a favor booking here! You will be in a peaceful neighborhood that feels very private and yet close enough to everything to explore Hilo and the surrounding area. We really enjoyed our stay here and would love to come back!

Simon & Jeri’s place was exceptional. We have stayed in many Airbnb and this I have to say was one of the better ones. Attention to detail was maculate. Heated towel warmer and heated toilet seat for example. We stayed there with our 2 kids and the area and space was more than comfortable. The home was spotless. We came to visit the volcano national park - and it was a quick 20 min drive to the entrance. Jerry even emailed us in the morning to make sure we were aware of the volcano eruption and not miss that once in lifetime chance. we didn’t mind the drive to dinner in Hilo- 20-30 the other way making the location ideal. There are not many places for dinner around this home but we didn’t mind driving to Hilo.

What a gem! Perfect location for us and our remote work on East Coast hours. Clean! The kitchen was fully functional with everything we needed. Bed was comfortable and the walk in shower had great hot water pressure was strong. Washer and dryer were the icing on the cake.

Great quiet place with easy access to Hilo and Volcanoes National Park. Enjoyed the lanai with a table to dine out. This is a duplex so other side of the house might be rented to other people. It was a perfect place for our family to use as a base to explore the north of the island.
