The Sanders Store

The Sanders Store, formerly known to Bloomington natives as Hays Grocery, is a landmark on Fairfax Road. Originally erected in 1913, the Sanders Store operated as a grocery for the Sanders community until 1967. The space was vacant and largely used for storage until 2019 when it was obtained, historically designated, fortified and reimagined into a deluxe vacation rental that sleeps 7! Six miles from downtown Bloomington and the Fairfax Marina at Lake Monroe. Great for IU events or boating!

Limestone bluff overlooks the White River 125 ft. below cabin porch. There is a patio plus a fire pit.

The 1400 square-foot renovated dome home boasts panoramic wooded views and sits on 6 acres of a secluded, park-like setting only 17 min. from downtown. The dome sleeps 4 guests with an open, divided, (not fully private) loft with one full bed and one queen bed. There is one full bath, dining for six, island seating and a fully equipped kitchen. Our non-electric cabin in the woods is the perfect glamping opportunity. This rustic retreat is a 5-8 minute walk from our house and parking lot. The 270 square foot tiny house has a queen mattress in the loft, a wood stove for heat, cooking facilities including a propane cook top and gravity fed rain water (non-potable). Large windows look out over a beautiful southern Indiana holler. Camp shower & composting toilet. Experience comfortable, tent - free camping!
