Beachfront holiday rental in Jefferson County

The Roe Cottage was so beautiful! Even though it rained while we were there and was chilly, my family had an amazing and peaceful time enjoying the view of the lake and keeping warm by the fire. The beds were super comfy and the furniture was very nice. The host (Pete) was very responsive and helpful and provided us all the information we needed. To sum it up, my brother kept saying that it felt like we were “in an L.L. Bean catalogue,” so that’s what it’s like to stay here!

The Cottage was wonderful! Fantastic place to get away from the daily hustle and enjoy time with the family boating, fishing and sightseeing! Morning coffee on the back porch was very relaxing start to each day and enjoying a nice beverage after dinner as you watched the sunset capped off the end of each day! The cottage had everything you need to enjoy your stay. I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a nice relaxing place to enjoy on the river.

The cozy cabin was adorable! It has a million dollar view of the River - we loved watching the freighters and other boats go by! We really enjoyed having bonfires as we watched all the action on The River. Jeff was great! He responded quickly to any questions or issues we had. We were able to launch our kayaks from the little sandy cove area on his property which was very convenient. The fishing was great around the island. We truly loved the peace & quiet of being at his place. We would love to stay again next year.

This is a nice clean cottage and we were all very comfortable. We spent a lot of time on the sunporch where we had a great view of beautiful sunsets on the lake - I love that the shore is actually the front yard! I also got to see a lovely sunrise over the pond (which is right across the road) from the master bedroom. There are games and craft supplies available and we painted a rock to add to the collection left by other guests. Slept very well - can't beat falling asleep to the sound of the waves on the shore. On bad weather days we were able to log into the smart TV and watch movies or do a jigsaw puzzle on the sun porch. There is also an extensive DVD collection. Neighbors are friendly. The private beach is just a 10 minute walk away and so nice! Grocery store, restaurants, and Southwick Beach State Park are just a few minutes drive up the road. We were sad to say goodbye.

This cottage is very cozy and comfortable. Lake Ontario did not disappoint--including beautiful sunsets, calm surf, and a couple of 70 degree days (in October!), getting to watch an epic thunderstorm come across the lake with super high surf, and the icing on the cake--seeing 4 waterspouts! So many long walks on the beautiful sand beach. Linda was an excellent host and the cottage was just as described.

The apartment was roomy and comfortable. All the cabinets and light switches were conveniently labeled. The unit was well equipped with plenty of extra supplies, including towels, paper towels, and trash bags. All the cutlery, dinnerware, and cooking supplies were good quality. There was a fantastic blender and even a large crock pot. The king beds were very comfortable and the linens/bedding nice and cozy. I really liked the added touch of having a magnified mirror and special “makeup” wash cloths in the bath room. Both bathrooms were set up so that the toilet/ bath or shower could be closed off from the sink vanity…great for larger groups. The apartment is walking distance to most of the restaurants and bars in town an to the sightseeing boats on the St. Lawrence. We would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone interested in visiting Alex Bay.

Phyllis, & her daughter Jennifer, went above & beyond to make us, our 6yo & 12yo, and our crazy Bernedoodle feel very welcome. They seemed very happy to have us, and even offered us many of their personal things and private areas on their property to enjoy. Unique & beautiful surroundings that push you to relax, with a cozy/charming/glamping-style accommodation that makes you feel at home.

we had a small family reunion with siblings, and cousins not seen or hugged in decades. This property was simply perfect for a large family. Everyone had their own bed, towels, etc. The home is well insulated and the house is clean. We had sufficient hot water for showers etc. The coffee pot pretty much ran most of every day. It has a nice big fridge. The view and the beach are spectacular and the beach is very walkable. We would definitely recommend this property and we would definitely rebook with Michelle in the future.

This is a great little beach cabin with miles and miles of walkable beach right out the door. This location is a perfect place to unwind, relax in the hammock, listen to the waves, read a book, and enjoy a beautiful sunset around a campfire. We’ve stayed here a couple times now and won’t hesitate to book again.

I can’t express how amazing this place was. There were signs made up all around the house to answer any questions you may have. I reached out to our hosts mid stay and got a response immediately. They even reached out to give us a heads up about possible power outages (we did not lose power). But I truly appreciated them reaching out as we were out at a wedding.

Great house with open floor plan. Lots of room to congregate. Less than 30 second walk to beach. Quiet & peaceful. Updated and clean house.

was absolutely what is depicted in description and more! The newlyweds absolutely enjoyed spending their honeymoon here and would 10/10 recommend!! Rick was a fabulous host!

everything about our stay was wonderful the house was perfect and had everything anyone would need michelle answered any questions i had quickly and listed rules for the house clearly i recommend their house to anyone ...has plenty of room for large group...very comfortable will definitely go back

Excellent location on St. Lawrence. Across channel from Clayton, about 10 minutes by boat. Property is private and located in small cove which shelters you from winds on the channel. The cove is a great for swimming, canoeing, paddle boarding and/or kayaking. It is a short boat ride to Eel Bay for fishing and to Thousand Island Park, which is great if you have kids. The house sits on a hill overlooking the cove, which is handy to watch your kids from the house while they are on the dock or in the water. Beautiful views of the river with nice shade from trees. The house is well equipped as indicated by the listed amenities. Jeff and Margery are fabulous hosts, very responsive and helpful. Highly recommend!!

This house was perfect for our whole family of 15! The weather was not great with, rain, wind, and cold, but all the games in the basement kept all the kids and adults busy so no one was bored or disappointed. Loved all the seating on the porches!

everything was labeled and directions and information was easy to get. My family really enjoyed our stay. wonderful sandy beach.
