“Loved our stay here!!! An absolute oasis in busy Kandy with monkeys and birds in the beautiful garden and the prettiest bedroom we stayed in during our trip. Its a short drive into the centre of Kandy, but having seen how hectic it is, we were glad to have a bit of calm. The very best thing about this gem of a place however is Champ’s dad, such a friendly and knowledgeable man! We were only here for one afternoon / evening and were a bit unsure of the best plan. He arranged the perfect itinirary (gardens, a wander around the lake, kandyan dancing, temple visit and a great dinner spot) and booked our Tuk Tuk driver Gehan who picked us up and dropped us off for the whole day for a very reasonable fixed price. He was bang on time, every single pick up, and answered all of our questions about the city. If you want to get through traffic in a hurry - Gehan is your man. He took us to a lovely lookout point on our way home at the end of the day. Champ’s dad was also brilliant at giving advice for our train to Ella the next day, arranged for Gehan to take us to the station and packed us a lovely breakfast for our trip. Would recommend to anyone looking for a very warm welcome, and a bit of peace away from the city.”
The Square Peg is a quirky hotel located halfway up the legendary Bahirawakanda hill. It is within a 4 minute drive from the kandy Railway station (1.1km) 10 minutes by foot. 1Km to the Temple of the tooth and the Kandy lake. The rooftop lounge exclusive for inhouse guest offers breathtaking views of the entire city of Kandy including the historic Temple of the tooth, the Kandy lake, the old Bogambara prison and the Hanthana mountain range.
“The Hotel / Loft is located above the roofs of Kandy in the immediate vicinity of the famous Buddha statue. From the roof terrace you have an incredibly great view of the city, which makes the breakfast served there a real highlight. The rooms are new and modern. Large shower including hair dryer and towels available. Air conditioning works very well and lets you sleep at night with pleasant temperatures. The host is very friendly and tries to give good tips. The beautiful view naturally has the price that you are not directly in the city center and have to walk about 15-20 minutes to get there. As an alternative, there is the "PickMe" app, which, like "Uber", allows you to order TukTuks or cars for very little money (we paid around € 1 for the journey between the hotel and the train station). Another advantage is that the price is already fixed here and you don't have to argue with TukTuk drivers whether you pay more or less. All in all, the accommodation is highly recommended!”
"Hashtag28" is delightfully designed for travelers who seek a cozy, quiet, charming apartment. Just 2 km away from the historical Kandy city, the place offers an excellent experience for your money. Providing a relaxed atmosphere in a quiet neighborhood, it is a perfect get away for two who need a time away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. The Temple of the Tooth, the Botanical Gardens, and many historical temples and places of interest are close by. (Scooter for rent on premises).
“YOU HAVE TO STAY HERE! If you are visiting Kandy, Maya and Gamini's place is absolutely perfect! It's just up the hill from the crazy town centre and noise, the veiws are gorgeous and there is a great restaurant and supermarket just 10 minutes walk down the road. The place itself is very clean, super comfortable with a lovely bathroom and hot shower. The kitchen is also very cute with a little fridge and cooker. The best part though is Maya and Gamini. Their Sri Lankan breakfast is delicious and plentiful and we loved spending an hour and a half talking with them over breakfast both mornings. They have so many helpful tips and also were kind enough to book us a great driver down to Nuwara Eliya when the train was fully booked! Thank you both for having us, we hope we can stay again one day!”
