Founded in 1957, my grandfather, Eiichi Tanuchi, ran an inn called Aiwasho for the cultural development of Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture. In order to continue to protect its history and traditions, his granddaughter, Kiushuko, reopened the inn under its original name in 2021. Built on the site of Ueno Castle, this inn is a traditional Japanese house with tatami mats on the floor. Please relax in one of the two Japanese-style rooms. The inn is located on a hill overlooking the city of Tanabe, so you can enjoy the morning sun, sunset, and night view. On a calm day, we recommend having tea in a wicker chair on the edge of the hinoki cypress wooden deck, which was made in the image of the moon viewing platform of the Katsura Imperial Villa. The newly installed bath and toilet are spacious and barrier-free, so you can bathe together or use them easily even if you need assistance. We installed popin.aladdin (lighting with projector) in one of the Japanese-style rooms. It projects on the sliding doors You can watch TV, music, movies, etc. Enjoy BGM on YouTube before you go out in the morning. My parents, Kisaku and Shuko Tanai (Japanese), live next to the house, so please let me know if you need anything.

Guesthouse Agae is a limited stay for one group that has been renovated from an old private house.The property is in a very convenient location, with the Kumano Kodo and Chikurōji approximately 550 meters away (about a 7-minute walk), and a supermarket (A-COOP), a bus stop (Kodo Aruki no Sato Chikatsuyu), and a restaurant (Tororoya) all within a 1-minute walk. The owner is a local Kumano Kodo guide, so we will do our best to answer questions about walking the ancient pilgrimage trail, provide advice, and offer transportation if needed.We can also provide a personal guide, so please feel free to contact us. You can feel the sound of the drums of the Torikokujinja Shrine and the four seasons up close. In order to enjoy the most beautiful Nanki sea, please come to the inn as soon as possible, and get up a little early the next day to see the sunrise from the sea. Take a leisurely soak in the morning bath while watching the beautiful rising sunrise.You can also experience such an extraordinary way of enjoying yourself. Until now, there were no restaurants nearby (convenience stores are within a few minutes' drive), but a Japanese restaurant has opened just around the corner. You can also enjoy ramen at lunch time. If you want to have dinner, you can also introduce this restaurant.(Advance reservation is required for dinner) There is ample parking and free parking on the premises for more than 10 cars.Please come by car as it is. A welcome house with a starry sky and countryside views

In a beautiful mountain village that changes with the seasons, Would you like to enjoy a peaceful moment that makes you forget your daily worries? At our inn, you can enjoy the starry sky and the peaceful atmosphere. Located on a hill with a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. When I open the window, There, you can see “terrace fields,” a traditional Japanese landscape. We weave poems inspired by the changing seasons. In spring, the rice terrace with water shows the blue sky and the surrounding landscape as if it were a water mirror. In the summer, the fresh green rice flying in the wind plays a cool tone. In autumn, the rice terraces, surrounded by golden rice ears, shine across the entire landscape. In winter, the bundles of straw piled up after the rice harvest create a wintertime scene characteristic of the rice terraces. While I had this stunning borrowed scenery all to myself, Enjoying conversations is also important. It is also a good idea to surrender to a comfortable silence, It's all up to you.

We hope you enjoy the charm of this place and have a relaxing time. The inn is located just near the World Heritage Site, Kotorokusanji Temple. It is also conveniently located as a base for visiting Kumano. Please visit Nachiyama after doing Shiogori (cleansing your mind and body with seawater) at Nachinohama, which is a 4-minute walk. Convenience stores are a 3-minute walk away, and there are many supermarkets, restaurants, Katsuura Onsen, and Yukawa Onsen within a 10-minute drive, making it a very convenient location. Enjoy delicious seafood and hot springs to fill your body and mind. Relax in the garden with a cup of tea and enjoy a luxurious time in harmony with nature.

Kumano Kodo 1 day 1 group limited, a house with a beautiful stream in front of the inn

There are no houses around and it's quiet. Recommended for those who value privacy! It is about a 10-minute drive to Hongu Taisha Shrine and about a 5-minute drive to Kumano Kodo Ukekawa and Kawayu Onsen, making it a perfect base for a trip to Kumano. In front of the house, you can enjoy playing in the river, barbecues, bonfires, insect collecting, bird watching, stargazing, mountain walking, and more. We also provide a kitchen and barbecue grill, so please bring only the ingredients. Relax with family and friends at this peaceful place to stay.

It’s a house 8km from the Hongu Taisha. (about 15 minutes' drive) If you have a car it's more convenient, but if not I'll be happy to drive you to and from a bus stop or a tourism spot in Hongu area. My family run an organic farm, bakery, NPO offering long-stay for the youth, and an alternative school for children nearby. You'll have some loaves of bread from our bakery(^^)/ （If you don't eat bread please let me know beforehand)

Ocean View Retreat in a Quiet Fishing Village

This is a private, whole-house guesthouse located in the quiet fishing village of Nigishima, Kumano City, Mie Prefecture. On the way to Nigishima, you’ll be greeted by the deep blue ocean known as “Kumano Blue,” and the house sits overlooking the calm waters of Nigishima Bay. To reach the house, you will need to climb approximately 50 steps (about a 5-minute walk), but a beautiful view and peaceful atmosphere await you at the top.
