Muhire (Ivan) was a 5-star host. After getting scammed by a different Ugandan fake guide who was supposed to meet us in Rwanda. Ivan was a godsend of a host to not let our trip being ruined. We walked across Rwanda/Uganda land border. He helped us navigate the crossing with the lines at border. Took us to his airbnb. He went ahead and reserved our gorilla permits for us, got a vehicle lined up for us to rent, he drove us throughout Uganda. He was always lining up the next activity ahead of time making sure they’re was availability and reserving it for us. All in all his airbnb was comfortable and chill. He has a small restaurant connected to it. But his service in guiding/setting up reservations, getting a mechanic to fix our vehicle when the alternator broke down… was excellent. Our trip was saved by staying with Ivan. Thanks a bunch brother 🙏🏼. I wish you well.

Buhoma lodge, the amazing team (chef, clean team, security, drivers, support, people management teams) and their leader Richard have hit a homerun with a 100% incredible experience in making Bwindi Gorilla tracking a real A++ experience! Team plan meals that cater to your dietary restrictions, move you through your agenda with ease while ensuring you get to your events or rides to airport or boarders with ease (on demand costing)! The Units you stay in are double bed with full bathroom and all supplies you will ever need! The Park is 20min walk or 7 min driver. Park fee is 700$USD and the Buhoma will provide you with a box lunch and water for your hike! You will track a set family through the Bwindi jungle (varies around 8km) amazing! There are local guides to book to visit trails to pigmy jungle community, waterfalls, banana gin walk and coffee/Tea plantations. The area and landscape view around the village is amazing with everyone super friendly. The lodge takes care of meals, planning and laundry as needed while you cover your fees to park, the park covers the guides and knowledge tracking of Gorillas! We went to Nkuringo for the gorillas and wanted to look for a midrange to budget place. As a frequent traveler, we learned not to book places without reviews since it usually ends up being really bad, or worse, a scam. We were apprehensive initially to book 7 Volcanoes due to the lack of reviews, but we risked it cos it was the only one around and near the gorilla trekking trailhead that is within our budget. I started contacting Ndahiriwe and Vita (I don’t think I got his name right but the manager) and they were always very responsive and quick to assist. We expected the worst so when our car from Kisoro entered the gate and the personnel welcomed us, we were shocked. It was a really nice welcome from everyone and made us feel good immediately (despite the fact that there were ebola deaths in Western Uganda when we went). They led us to a room and our jaw dropped! Totally not as we expected. One of the rare times when the reality is so much better than advertised. We got a fantastic and very clean room with a great view of the promised 7 volcanoes. They even served welcome drinks and really made us feel at ease and relaxed after the bumpy ride from Kisoro. The room was decorated nicely with NEW furniture. Even beddings and mosquito nets were new. Everything was new, and that’s when we realized why there aren’t reviews yet (they were just 5months old and coming in their first high season) and why we wanted to write this review. We did the gorilla trekking the next day, and the staff even went out of their way to take our muddy dirty hiking shoes and wash them for us. The other staff was also very thoughtful and will provide warm water to warm us through the night. It was such a splendid stay and we would’ve wanted to stay longer. I usually don’t write long reviews but I really think this one deserves to be given attention. The value for money is off the roof - we paid 1/3 of what the other fancy lodges around paid for. The lodge has a fantastic location, around 700m from the trailhead so you can just walk. If there were drawbacks: - We weren’t informed beforehand about the cost of food. It was a bit on the expensive side for us compared to what we had during our Uganda trip. But we fixed it immediately as we learned we can just coordinate and negotiate with the (very nice) staff and tell him our food budget and he will work around it. - Maybe because it is a hotel, but the car service for pick up was expensive so you might be better off looking for your own private car, or negotiate. But overall, such a superior stay and we wish we could’ve stayed longer!! Thanks again to all the staff. We will always remember our stay in Nkuringo, not just because of the amazing gorillas, but also because of our stay here.

Gerard is a great host! He helped us greatly and Made us feel at home! He even took us on a tour around the area. The house is great, peacefully hidden away between the tropical plants. The rooms are simple yet full of character with a comfortable bed. The house is located about 10 min drive from Kisoro Town and is thus a great place to stay if you are planning a tour such as hiking the volcanoes or going for gorilla track. Would definitely recommend!
