We had a wonderful 3-night stay here with our 8-month-old. Everything in the house was new and in great condition, and it was very well stocked with everything we needed. The host was incredibly responsive and made sure we were well settled from the start. The views were absolutely stunning, and the space was perfect for switching off—whether we were relaxing in the sauna, grilling on the BBQ, going for a swim, watching a movie on the projector or reading a book by the window. They had kindly provided a high chair, and we could help ourselves to drinks, which was a lovely touch. It’s a peaceful and beautifully designed getaway—we’d love to return!

It is my third trip in Japan, I have stayed in probably 30+ different accomodations in this country. This is so far the best experience I have had. Taiji-san is a real chef and is a man of honor, my family and I feel grateful for this moment. Thank you Taiji-san, your mother and your grandfather!

Seaside Japanese Thatched Retreat | 4 Guests

Beautiful serene place. We lucked out with the weather which was beautiful warm and we swam in the bay several times during the day. The view of the water and sea life (we were sure we saw porpoises) birds and butterflies from the verandah was other worldly. Watching the surface of the water change was pure Zen. The onsen just perfect. The kitchen could do with one more cooking pot and a coffee machine and the living/outdoor space more seating, but since you’re staying in an historic building you do accept that you’re lucky to be staying there at all. It’s really very unique and even our two 22 year olds were blown away by the building including garden view from the bedrooms.

A private inn in an old house where you can stay as if you were living in the port town of Akune

Everything was stylish, and the interior and facilities were so full that there were no cuts. At first, I mistakenly thought it would be on the second floor of a luxury izakaya, but you can also use the kitchen space like a shop on the first floor. There is also a supermarket nearby, so it is quite recommended for self-catering.The atmosphere is only, and the alcohol is very refreshing. It was quite cost-effective.

Overall, a good experience. If you have a Map code, it's more convenient to drive. There are welcome snacks, Japanese feel, away from the busy city, quiet, comfortable, and it would be better if there was a dehumidifier. It would be better if the bed was a little harder.

Incredibly warm and nice welcome. I got picked up at the airport, coffee and breakfast made in the morning. Good company, friendly and helpful host. The place feels very spacious and relaxing, clean and everything you’d need in terms of kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.

100 points for the house, brand new renovation, very spacious, feels very comfortable. It's a short walk to Aso Shrine, about 30 to 40 minutes to the volcano, and the location is good.If I have the chance next time, I will choose this house again!Absolutely recommend! It would be a plus if the kitchen had some simple condiments.
