My place is close to family-friendly activities , approx 5 mins from the Ashburton township and an hour away from the Christchurch airport and Mt Hutt Skifield. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with children). In June 2019 we have added additional accommodation of two beds (without bathroom facilities just along from main unit) and table and chairs. Ideal for groups busy exploring. Bathoom facilities provided in main unit suitable for 6 people.

Welcome to our small farm. We are situated approximately 5km between Ashburton and Lake Hood. Close to Lake Hood for wedding guests attending weddings as well as being close enough to town. We have a two bedroom cottage. Bedroom 1 has a king bed. Bedroom 2 (recently added) can either have two singles or a super king bed. Mt Somers was a quick little stopover so we could visit Mount Sunday. Hilary was a fantastic host and recommended a nice local restaurant for dinner. She even remembered the reason I was staying (to visit Edoras from LotR) and left a nice note. The home was super clean and tidy and felt very cozy. Would definitely recommend if looking to stay in Mt Somers!

Lovely place to stay. Small but space used well. Not to far from Ashburton. Shame beach was not accessible but we knew that before booking. Great area outside for the dog. Only real downside was the weather. It did not play ball much at all. Overall we had a great relaxing time.

What a beautiful home in a unique location. Our three generations gathered from three countries for a lovely 5 days together in Christchurch. The views from all levels of this home are over the top. With high end cookware, two dishwashers and (my personal favorite and usual airbnb pet peeve) sharp knives, we grilled and gathered for “dinners in” every night instead of going out. Great access to governors bay pier and coffee/pizza just a short walk away. Loved this place so much and would return in a heartbeat.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay in this sunny little gem of a cottage. The hosts were lovely—easy to contact and quick to reply. The cottage itself is beautifully & carefully renovated with great attention to detail. It’s wonderfully sunny and the log fire was perfect for cozy evenings. Every little need has been thoughtfully anticipated, from clear instructions, to the laundry basket, pegs, and drying rack to cooking essentials like oil, milk, salt, and pepper. Even hot water bottles with covers were provided! The bed was really comfortable and the lovely new carpet was soft & cozy underfoot. We were blown away by the lovely gift basket and the beautiful happy wedding anniversary card. This cottage is truly a credit to Gary & Victoria who have really gone the extra mile, in every way, to make their place so special & inviting for guests. Highly recommended!
