The Nishimura Residence is a traditional Nara machiya (townhouse) that is over 110 years old.In 2019, I renovated “Grandma's House,” where I spent a lot of time as a child, and opened it as an inn.Since the Nara machiya has been preserved in its original state, it may cause some inconvenience, and it is not a luxurious hotel where everything is provided. 　Instead, I believe there is no better place than Nara-cho to immerse oneself in the “comfortable rustic atmosphere” that permeates the town.We provide books in the room and a vegetarian breakfast in the hope that this environment, away from the hustle and bustle of the station, will help you with “introspection and recovery.”(You can purchase almost all of the books in the room.) 　Please spend this evening listening to your own heart's voice, surrounded by the tranquility of the Nishimura residence and Nara-cho.

This land with its old-fashioned townscape and famous water is hot in summer and cold in winter. But that's why the rice, vegetables, and meat are also delicious. It is a 6-minute walk from Todaiji Temple, making it easily accessible. There are 4 bedrooms, recommended for large groups, families, and friends. There are many famous temples in Nara just a short walk away, We recommend it for a leisurely tour of the temples. You'll definitely be able to relax and unwind, just like at home. Toys that even small children can enjoy are also available in the room. During cherry blossom season, there are very beautiful cherry blossoms along the Saba River that flows nearby, so you can take a walk and see the blossoms.

This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. Private cypress bath and renovated rooms and made another entrance for the Guests. So now it is 2 separate house Please check the house rules before you book.

Hinoki house: Traditional machiya, walk to sights.

A newly renovated machiya town house with typical layout and a small garden, retaining the tradition of Naramachi - the old merchant town of Nara. Easy access via bus and train, supermarket, restaurants, convenience store, bakery, and a Japanese bath house just minutes away. This house belonged to a famous wood carver of "ittobori" - a traditional Nara technique of carving the wood. A projector and a record player will make your stay even more pleasant. Enjoy!
