Located in a quiet street this top quality house is perfect for a couples get away, bird watchers and walkers/outdoor enthusiasts or anyone wanting a weekend to escape the business of life and re-charge in the natural beauty of Stewart Island.

Beautifully decorated warm and immaculate house. Fully equipped kitchen with everything you need. Would love to return”
eco-lodge, 50metres distance to the sea, beautiful vistas, very tranquil and different. kakas, tuis, bellbirds and fantails around, november till january the little blue penguins nest under the house and wild kiwis pass through the property or can be encountered on the walk to the nearby lighthouse.
“I am so glad I chose Jensen Bay House for my two night stay on Stewart Island. Although a little removed from the main strip of Oban (only a 15-20 min leisurely walk), it was at the start of the light house hike and seemed more peaceful than staying at the South Sea Hotel (which has the only pub in town on the first floor). The tranquility of the location also lended itself well to spotting a kiwi bird in the wild, thanks to the tips I received. The space itself was cozy and comfortable, and breakfast prepared by Ulrike was such a delicious spread (and served in a room with a great view). Kaka birds could be seen in the mornings visiting the porch, which was also very cool. Another bonus is that Manfred’s son, Raikura, runs the water taxi service to Ulva Island and around Stewart Island (I got dropped off at Port William). You don’t have to worry about how you’re going to get from Jensen Bay House to whatever you’re trying to do on Stewart Island because Manfred and team will make sure you’re taken care (this includes pick up and drop off at the ferry terminal). All in all, Jensen Bay House is certainly worth it!”
