House of Schist in the center of Portugal

Three schist houses being restored at the village of Cunqueiros, in the municipality of Proença-a-Nova, form the Casas da Encosta project. Here it’s possible to relive the life history and culture of the region’s people in the comfort of a typical Portuguese village. According to the owner, Nuno Caldeira, the houses are being restored following the local construction tradition where schist, clay and wood are featured. One of them, Casa da Lagariça, has already opened.

Aunt Julia's House

Tia Júlia's house offers accommodations in Oleiros, is located in the historic center of the village, within walking distance of supermarkets, cafes and restaurants. This house has 2 bedrooms, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator and coffee machine, and 3 bathrooms with a bidet and shower. Towels and bed linen are provided in this apartment. We invite you to relax and enjoy nature in our beautiful village of Oleiros.
