Just spent 6 nights at Nicola and Nick’s restored colonial house in Dodanduwa near Hikkaduwa. Lovely historic, rustic old house with large rooms, high ceilings, a classic veranda with a nice pool in the large garden. The local village was great to explore. Having an 10 month old grandchild in tow mean plenty of engagement with the locals. The house comes with a menagerie of visiting cats and dogs who treat the house as home – especially Kitty. Took a while for our granddaughter to get accustomed to these visitors. Overall we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves staying in the house and the local area. In addition, Nicola was very responsive to queries. Likewise, the staff on site were great as well – particularly Nicky who cooked several meals for us and was a mind of information about her home town of Hikkaduwa.

Beautiful house, well maintained. Everything worked and kitchen well kitted out. The caretaker of the house was very attentive and could be paid to take you out on a boat ride around the lake or pop to the shops in his tuk tuk. You can organise to have a meal cooked for you this is a nice experience. We had a peaceful two nights in the lake house.

Our stay at Villa Ema was fantastic. The villa is beautifully designed, spacious, and very easy to find. It offers complete privacy and a peaceful atmosphere, making it the perfect retreat. The villa is fully equipped with all modern amenities, including a well-stocked kitchen that made our stay even more comfortable. Mr. Asintha and his wife are incredibly friendly and helpful hosts. Communication with them was effortless and clear throughout our stay. Each room is thoughtfully designed with air conditioning, attached bathrooms, and very comfortable beds. The quality of the fittings and the overall architecture of the villa is exceptional. Everything was immaculately clean and well maintained. We truly appreciated their hospitality and the effort they made to accommodate us. Our experience at Villa Ema was outstanding, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Galle area.

Our stay at The Dragonfly Villa was nothing short of amazing. From the moment we arrived, we were wrapped in a sense of calm and beauty that only a place like this can offer. The villa is simply breathtaking — elegantly designed with stunning details, lush surroundings, and peaceful spaces that made it a true escape. A standout highlight was the exceptional cuisine lovingly prepared by Nayana. Each dish she created was bursting with flavour — fresh, comforting, and unforgettable. Every mealtime became a moment we looked forward to. Equally wonderful was the gracious hospitality of Ushan, who was always there with a warm smile, ready to assist with anything we needed - reservations, recommendations, or simply answering our many questions with patience and kindness. His presence made everything smooth and enjoyable. The Dragonfly Villa exceeded all expectations. Every person we encountered went out of their way to make our family trip very special. We left feeling so lucky and grateful

Loved the villa! Right on the beach. Spacious. Loved the simple, elegant interiors, and the muted lighting. We all had a great time in the pool by the beach. The speaker is awesome. Jaan was always prompt in responding. And they proactively informed us that we could check out late as they had no booking on that day - thank you Jaan. The local caretaker Gayan, who lives nearby, comes every day to clean the pool and was helpful. He also drives a tuktuk himself. He came to check on us a few times despite his son being unwell - thank you Gayan. There is a supermarket at a walking distance and a restaurant (called A2). The main town, restaurants, touristy shops are less than 3 kms away and tuktuks are very easily available for hire (the pickme app worked like a charm). We stayed during the off season, so it is quite likely that during the peak season, there are beachfront restaurants and bars operational at a walking distance from the villa.

Everything was 100 percent as hoped. The location in the “hinterland” perfect, a small vegetable shop around the corner and a restaurant right on the lake 10min walk. And then the beautiful garden!! We got fresh coconuts and delicious papaya. The old house was well restored. The relationship with the landlord was optimal and when we had a problem with the visa, we were easily helped. If you are looking for a stay away from the tourism hustle and bustle, you have found a wonderful opportunity here.

The treehouse is an amazing place to stay for exploring the south coast of Sri Lanka. The location is very private and enclosed but still close to the towns of Unawatuna and Galle. The treehouse itself was very clean and had everything we needed to cook and even have a BBQ! The pool was a great size and depth with a cool rope swing. The hosts were very helpful and attentive, with a very friendly doorman. We wish we could have stayed longer as this was the highlight of our trip.

Ranjan was an amazing host!! He looked after us very well and made sure all our needs were met. The place is so beautiful and also stays cool in the heat which is perfect. Thank you!!
