Sleeping on Tatami straw mats and Futons experience the feel of traditional Japan.
The house is over one hundred years old and was until 2012 run as a guesthouse called Yougendo.
Shingo the manager ran yougendo until the former owners decided to return to the U.K. at which point he bought it and renamed it guesthouse Kotone.
the house is split into two parts the main house and the accommodation wing the main house contains the living areas of the house so the living room, fully equipped kitchen, the second living room with tourist information, computer and book loan library and the formal Tatami rooms with the painted shoji sliding screens.
the accommodation wing holds the sleeping areas of the house
which consists of four rooms please try and keep the noise down in the part of the house as someone may be sleeping
please bear in mind all bathroom and toilet facilities are shared
the house is a 5 minute walk from a major J.R. station as well as two Kintetsu stations and a bus station (you can even get to Tokyo by bus from here is you can endure 8 hours on a bus)
the house has many shops and restaurants close to it including a 24hour supermarket within the station
the house is close to both Nara and Osaka and you can get to either in about 20mins or 4 stops on the train.
there are no shoes in side the house (slippers are provided for guests to use)
There is no smoking inside on the buildings of the property however smoking is allowed in the garden and patio areas
please keep the noise down in the garden areas of a night as we do have neighbors
please keep the noise down when leaving or entering the house late at night or early in the morning to keep from disturbing the neighbors
