Nestled at the heart of Edinburgh’s historic Old Town, a perfect location from which to explore the city’s stunning and diverse architecture, culture, history and lively night-life.

The space

This newly refurbished and decorated apartment is situated at the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, on one of the city’s oldest streets. The Grassmarket is just round the corner and the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle are only a few minutes’ walk away.

The A Listed building was completed in 1729 and while most of the buildings on the street were demolished in the early 19th century, this and a handful of the other 17th and 18th century structures remain. Both Edinburgh’s Old and New Towns were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995.

The apartment has one double with a real, comfortable bed. The living room has a sofa bed increasing the capacity to four guests. Fresh bed linen is provided.

The living room is equipped with a Freeview TV; a DVD player with a selection of movies; a CD player and a wireless internet connection is available throughout at no extra charge. The room also contains a dining table and space to seat four.

There is plenty of storage space in the apartment even for a long stay.
The new kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering and cereal and milk are provided should you require a quick breakfast. Always available are a selection of teas; a cafetiere (French press) with ground coffee and a Nespresso machine with complimentary coffee pods.

The bathroom has an electric shower and a bath. Towels, soap, shampoo and shower gel are provided.

The apartment is equipped with mains powered smoke and heat detectors as well as a fire extinguisher in the hallway, a fire blanket in the kitchen and a comprehensive first aid kit.

Guest access

The entire apartment is available to guests. Ther property is accessed through a private courtyard off the street then through the secure entry system of the building’s main door.

Interaction with guests

I will personally welcome you to the apartment and will be available to answer as many of your questions as I can via the AirBnB site or App as well as by text and telephone. As an Edinburgh resident I can offer detailed local knowledge to ensure that you make the most of your stay in the city.

Jonathan is a friendly and welcoming host. The location is fantastic - steps away from everything - the castle, touristic bus stops, good pubs and shops, Waverly station. The apartment is very clean and well equipped. Some things have been recently renovated. The bed is very comfortable and bed linen new and fresh. Good WiFi. This is an old building and the entrance is kind of gloomy but the apartment itself is very nice and bright. Definitely would recommend to friends.

The owner always knew the day and time we would arrive. He also knew that I was going with my family: my wife and my 7 years old son, and he only told me he couldn't receive us at the appointed time and that he would be delayed and he had nobody, but himself to receive us. We were traveling with a kid, we were tired and we had to wait about one hour outside in crowded street for him. If he told me that before, I would cancel the reservation . I found a lack of respect for anyone who proposed to work with rental properties on AIRBNB. I've done everything right: made the reservation, I paid and at least, I would expect a good treatment. It was disrespectful and we really didn't like that!

Jonathan is the perfect host, friendly and accessible. Communication was swift, replying well within the hour both before and during our stay. Apartment was super clean and very well equipped- clearly much thought has gone into potential customers' needs. Location couldn't have been better. As a light sleeper I was worried about the location and potential noise, but there was no need - being tucked away, it was shielded from the hustle & bustle and we slept well despite it being August & Festival time. Thoroughly recommend this apartment.

His place is located in the heart of Edinburgh. Perfect location to encounter everything the city has to offer. Nevertheless we had a smooth and comfortable sleep at Jonathan`s cozy Apartment. With a starter kit for our daily needs like coffee, assorted teas, cereals and even original scottish beers, you can jumpstart your day in Edinburgh or have a break from your tours. It is really that near to the best places in Edinburgh. Our host Jonathan held a detailed briefing at our arrival of the flat and Edinburgh. Which was very helpful for us and any questions was promptly answered to our content. We had an unforgetable time and we would gladly book your place a second time, thanks to you Jonathan.

A perfect base for us to explore Edinburgh. It's so well-located, we could easily stop by the place to drop off parcels or to return to escape the crowds of August and recharge with a nice cup of tea and peace and quiet. It's not large, but it is remarkably quiet inside and completely safe, yet right in the heart of EVERYTHING. We didn't have much luggage (one carry on each) so walking the hills and stairs from the train station was easy, but if you can't handle stairs or you have huge bags, stay in a hotel. Jonathan is a warm and gracious host and very quick to respond and thinks of everything! The place is spotless and contemporary in decor and fixtures. Can't wait to return!
