The host was communicative via text message and willing to share information about the local area, etc. I was interested primarily in privacy and he respected that. I stayed in this apartment for ten weeks and worked in south Uptown. The apartment’s location will be PHENOMENAL for anyone in a similar situation. There was reasonable parking availability in the alley immediately behind the complex. (Open parking, only.) Users of small vehicles are unlikely to have trouble finding space, but users of trucks, suburbans, etc. may need to be willing to park down the street. The apartment lacks a few things one may take for granted. For example: (1) There is no dresser for clothing. I utilized the closet's hanging rack and certain shelves, which were built into the wall, to meet that need; and (2) There is no space for cooking. I didn’t cook much, so that didn’t bother me. A few tips for those who will stay here: (1) bring plenty of quarters for laundry; (2) bring an extension cord if you want to use the microwave; (3) keep in mind that you’re getting a competitive price on a tremendous location for a reason. I would recommend this location to a friend who (1) is on a budget; (2) desires an ultra-convenient location; (3) is low-maintenance; and (4) is unfazed by dark, secluded alleys.
Upon arrival Brett was very welcoming and made sure that I had everything I needed up front. There was a couple times I needed assistance with an outlet not working or changing the curtains (I worked night shift) and he would respond within a day or two. The place was as described but I was still surprised with how small the kitchen was, there was absolutely no counter space so I bought a little fold up table and a large cutting board to improvise. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning worked super well and kept the apartment very cool (which was good since it was Texas in August lol). This listing is in the heart of the LBGT neighborhood and I felt extremely safe being there by myself. I would recommend this listing for like a weekend getaway or a week at most, I was here for three months and felt frustrated at times with the small kitchen. But I also knew that it was a studio going into this, I guess it took living in it for a long period of time to realize the challenges of it. Other than that I would stay at one of Brett's listings again, and felt that this was a good place to stay.
