Come visit Bath, the most complete 18c Georgian architecturally designed city in England. You will find old traditional pubs, modern restaurants and lovely walks five minutes from the apartment door.
FLAT WITH PRIVATE DOUBLE BEDROOM – Bath, England
Located on one of Bath’s most famous Georgian streets, in a Listed building constructed in 1789 and retaining many original features. The interior of my flat some describe as ‘historically eclectic - with deteriorating Georgian splendour’ (with modernish facilities). Located close to the Holburne Museum and through Sydney Gardens to canal walks. 5-10 minute slow (level) walk to town centre, the Roman Baths, Thermae Spa, Theatre Royal, river Avon tour boats, parks and gardens. A wide range of cafes, bars, pubs, restaurants and markets in all directions from outside the front door. Waitrose supermarket is five a minute walk across Pulteney Bridge (designed by Robert Adam). I am a busy landscape designer and architectural historic researcher, based out of my home office.
Your bedroom with queen size double bed has fresh pressed bedding and towels, bedside tables and lamps, built in wardrobe, drawers and a view over a quiet rear courtyard garden. The flat is located on the ground floor through the entrance lobby. There is a living room, dining room/office, bedrooms, family kitchen and shared spacious bathroom. You would be sharing the flat with me when I am around, and happy for you to make reasonable use of various facilities during your stay. Access to Wi-Fi and street parking permit on arrival can be provided for short stays. Light breakfast is available when it suits you to help yourself to toast, tea and coffee from the kitchen. There are a number of excellent cafes for breakfast on Pulteney Bridge, a couple of minutes walk away.
If unsure of what to do while in Bath we have a list of various sites, venues, events and places to eat and drink.
Guests are welcome to relax in the apartment, use the living room (opposite their bedroom), kitchen access for drinks and put items in the fridge. The dining room (that doubles as my design office) is laid out for breakfast and can be used during the stay as required.
Interaction with guests
When guests arrive they are shown around flat, explain usage and provide keys. If guests would like we can take a few minutes to go over a small map I print out with cards for restaurants, bars, places of interest that they may like to visit.
Other things to note
The building was constructed in 1786 and is located on one of Britain's grandest streets. It was once a large house and was divided into separate residences - a century or so ago. This does mean there are neighbours, we are all very courteous, however there are the sounds of daily life going on around us. The bedroom is very quiet and of the hundreds of guests who have stayed, there is almost unanimous reviews the bedroom is very comfortable.
'Behave as responsible grown ups' is possibly best description of house rules. This is a home that functions with family life that should be respected. Guests requests will be provided for as regards access, use of additional facilities and practicalities that can be accommodated. Apartment is not an environment for children, we like them but just not child-proofed.
Bath is a fabulous city. Having lived and worked here for nine years and in different countries I understand how visiting somewhere new or revisiting can be made an original experience when staying at someone's home, the great success of airbnb! Whether you are attending a function, coming for a look around or just taking a break from your own life, Bath is a place for everyone to enjoy.
