Sapphire Village, Sapphire Beach, East End, USVI - St. Thomas, Overlooking the marina at Sapphire Beach Resort
Condo, Studio, 1 Bath Sleeps 1-2.Just 1 mile to Red Hook and the St. John/Inter-island ferry terminal.
Clean, comfortable private corner unit with enough activity for entertainment and plenty of quiet for your enjoyment. Famous Sapphire Beach is a 1500 foot stroll. The larger of two fresh water pools is 150 feet from your door just alongside the only full-service restaurant and bar within the entire Sapphire community.
This condo has been family owned for forty years.
Kitchen and bath were fully remodeled in 2012. Queen Tempur-Pedic style foam mattress with quality cotton linens. Some beach essentials included; snorkel gear, towels, cooler etc. Studio kitchen with utensils provided. TV, cable, DVD, phone with local service, Electronic custom entry and one of the best private balcony location at Sapphire.
This is the larger "A" style studio with balcony; please keep that in mind if you are comparing my prices with "B" or "C" style units.
Cell phone reception is great on the balconies, the steel and reinforced concrete construction limits signal penetration within the condo. There is a hard wired phone and answering machine for free local or incoming calls. Please use a calling card for other long distance calling. My Sam's Club AT&T card works well for only pennies a minute. There are 3 ways to keep connected to the internet: two are free. Property wide Wi-Fi was just recently installed but speeds are expected to be sluggish until later this year. I broadcast a reasonably fast DSL Wi-Fi signal from my neighboring 1 bedroom condo and you will be provided a password.
Detailed arrival instructions and my private restaurant guide map are available for the asking. I've been coming and going to the VI for almost 40 years and lived there full time during the 1970's and enjoy sharing tips and my experience whenever asked. I also have friends, family and a numerous contacts with tradespeople to assist in the rare event that something breaks or assistance is needed. Unless I am asleep I usually respond to guests and inquiries with 3 hours.
I am new to Airbnb and don't have many reviews to fall back on yet but give me time. Till then I will share that I have over 35 5-Star reviews on another popular vacation rental by owner website. So give it a try, you'll be glad you did. Tom
Other things to note
Rates for the studio include 10% VI Occupancy Tax
First rule is to relax and enjoy. I suggest copious amount of sunscreen and chill time and hydration fluids served alongside good food. Beach is a 1500 foot stroll with no traffic to contend with.
Please no mater where you visit in the VI conserve water and power, the trade winds will cool a place allowed to breath. My mom, when she uses this condo, has been sleeping with only the screen door latched for over 40 years. I have a 1 bedroom unit in the adjacent corner of the neighboring building and have been doing the same for years. Electric rates run 3-6 times that of the US and 40% more than Hawaii. If the average American household moved to the VI and didn't change their habits their water bill would average $425/month. Please conserve.
We equip the place with snorkel gear, beach chairs and outing cooler - please rinse sand and salt and allow to fully air dry before returning them to condo. There is a fresh water shower next to the pool which is almost as close as your back yard. Kitchen is equipped with enough gear to get you by. The only supplied items we try to faithfully stock are starter paper products, soap, salt/pepper and coffee filters you are welcome to use any food products that are there. Housekeeper does NOT clean the kitchen please leave as you found it removing all perishables; trash goes to the dumpster at the end of the parking lot.
Full linens provided - towels can't be hung from the balcony rail - stupidest rule ever! Quiet hours are 11p-8a. Property rules, parking rules and property information can be found by going to Sapphire Village (all as one word) and then adding the standard dot and the first three letters of combo. Site rules here will block all redirects, sorry for the cryptic behavior.
Free local phone and parking for up to 2 weeks, basic cable, DVD, iPod dock. Washer and dryer about 80 feet away alongside the property office. Buy tokens/soap at the office during business hours, laundry is always open.
The office handles property management but also provides a book and DVD lending library; and a nice air conditioned office space with wifi They also issue your free parking pass. Community has gated security on nights and weekends and has the only full service restaurant and bar within the entire Sapphire Beach community, it's about 100 feet from the apartment.
Red Hook with all it's shops, restaurants, and the St. John/inter-island ferry terminal is 1 mile from the condo. It can be walked with caution in daylight hours. or it's a 5-6 buck taxi ride. Taxi or rental car is the best mode of transportation. A transportation guide can found at vinow just add that same dot-thingy we talked about earlier.
I use an electronic lock which is custom coded for each guest. I am readily available by phone, email or text at least 16 hours every should questions or problems arise and have a ready list of friends, family and trades people to call on. I've been renting two apartments at Sapphire Village for over 8 years with few issues, fewer complaints and I have over 35 5-Star reviews on another popular web based vacation rental site.
When checking out please remove trash and perishable and drape damp items to allow them to air dry. The moisture rich sub-tropical environment will turn a couple damp towels left in a corner in short order.
The primary house rule is to enjoy yourself and enjoy your vacation.

My wife and I own a small town restaurant in rural Virginia. New to Airbnb in 2013 but I have been renting our St Thomas apartment via another popular vacation rental by owner site for many years and still do..
Chicagoan by birth, moved to NY at 8, some college in VT, the Virgin Islands for 5 fun years in the 70's then met and left the V.I with my future wife for Virginia, Florida and Lake Tahoe for about 2 years each before settling back into the mountains of central Virginia to raise and launch our two kids. Son is in the Navy as a nuke on a sub and our daughter works at a nearby university she also graduated from. We are non-smoking dog people and we are considering Airbnb for our home since it's now too large for just the two of us. I have a brother in Aspen who's Airbnb listing ranks in the top 5 and he's been suggesting I give it a try.
My favorite spot on the planet is probably St Thomas. I had an uncle move there in the 50's and as a family I made my first trip in 1966. I enjoy every aspect of the water: on - in - above or below. I have two cousins born, raised and still living in STT along with a number of friends from the "old days" The favorite part of my "job" renting this place is the great connections I've made with some of my guests. I take my lead from their needs; I give as much or as little of myself as they want. I' have met 2 face-to-face but have had a couple ongoing pen-pal type exchanges with more than a few.
That covers enough about me, how about you?
