Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
The historic farmhouse is airy and offers cozy and simple comfort including original wooden floors and other features. The house is not high tech, but has updates for convenience. Relax in the huge screened in porch in a private, beautiful setting with wildlife and take a short walk to the ocean(pebble beach and island). The house sits high on a hill overlooking apple orchards. When leaves are out, limited ocean views.

The space
The 200 year old farmhouse is spacious and gives guests plenty of room to stretch out in. The bedrooms are all different, there is a central reading room upstairs and a lovely large screened in porch overlooking the rolling fields and orchards.
We have three bedrooms that in keeping with the theme of a country home. We have the Victorian room with a full sized authentic antique bed and the the marble topped bureaus to match. The Dahlov room has a queen bed, with original Dahlov Ipcar prints hanging on the walls. The Ocean room is in the various shades of the sea and has an 1830 Himmel canopy twin bed. We have added another twin to make it a great space for mother/daughter or friends. Our little single room has a twin bed. There is a full bath upstairs and the stairs going up are steep. The house is clean, linens are nice and you will find plenty of towels. Downstairs is a dining room, living room with satellite tv, kitchen and large porch. There is wi-fi. The house is not high tech, It is a great place to unplug with our board games and hundreds of books. We want our guests to have everything they need to enjoy their vacation.

Guest access
The house has decent parking and a private entrance. There is an attached apartment on far end with it's own entrance that is not part of the rental. I think the magic of our place is the surroundings. You can explore our island at low tide or just have a picnic at our table down by the pebble beach. It is an 8 to 10 minute stroll from the house.

We have herds of deer, occasional fox, porcupines, chipmunks, gray and red squirrels. The variety of birds is amazing, from all the duck, osprey to the many songbirds including the Maine state bird, the chickadee. Wild turkeys come in the fall and it is not uncommon to see a bald eagle resting in one of the tall pines by the water.

The barn and pasture are off limits, though Liia will be happy to take you to visit what horses are currrently on property.

Other things to note
Sea kayaking is very popular in this part of Maine. The winding coastline offers wonderful trips, from easy to advanced kayaking. You can bring your own and set off right from our property, or rent from one of the nearby companies. We also have boat trips near by where you can just sit back and take in the beauty and wildlife. We have our own island that you can access at low tide by foot. The tidal pools, cooling breezes and just amazing beauty may keep you by the water for hours.

Location

Georgetown, Maine, United States

The home is located in a very unique location. This farm sits at the top of a hill on a 28 acre island connected to beautiful Georgetown Island by a causeway. There are only 5 homes scattered around the island, so it is a property very secluded, but close to many activities. There is a seasonal excellent resturant a half mile away.

My name is Liia and I started a Bed and Breakfast in the home in 2001 when I moved back to Georgetown. My Grandparents had bought the house in the early 1960's as a summer home and it has been in the family ever since. I had been pursuing my career in horses before the move and have continued to teach riding and horsemanship along with sharing this historic farm with wonderful guests from around the world. I have been moving more into renting, then the B&B. You still will find the kitchen stocked with basics and I still love the role of hostess helping with activities or any questions you have. I moved back here to be close to my mother. I can't deny the beauty of the property captivates me every day and my photography has improved to the point I have had 4 magazine covers and have sold numerous prints. The property is an island off an island and just heaven. The property could easily be called a wildlife haven, with deer, fox, wild turkeys, squirrels and a wide array of sea birds and song birds. There is a permanent herd of deer that runs around 4-6 in number and have gotten most of the guests scrambling for their cameras. The osprey and eagles fly overhead, the marsh has many types of herons and the songbirds greet you with their many calls. I think the comment I love most from our guests is that the house has a wonderful spirit. Unfortunately, no ghosts to brag about, but there is a calm to the property that people pick up on. The smell of the sea as the ocean breeze, the deer at dusk of in the orchard and just sitting on the porch leaving the hectic world behind. We always go the extra mile for our guests and it makes for a special vacation and great experience for us as well. My husband Giosi, is a scientist, a Brit and happy to liv e in Maine. We have 6 horses and a beautiful Berger Blanc Suisse puppy. We live in a seperate apartment in the ell of the house. Totally separate entrances, so it is very private, but we are available when needed!
