About this listing

Studio House in semi-rural Porto where you can find grocers selling fantastic produce aplenty, cafes with gracious service and delicious food and pastry! There are several bus stops, a 15 min. walk metro and Uber cabs arrive in less than 5 minutes. This room enables you visiting Porto for an affordable price providing basic yet tidy and good located accommodation, the room is turned to the road at the front and at times noisy, consider that before booking if you're a light sleeper.

The space

This is a studio house constantly changing and being shaped by my work and by my guests. It's perfect for visiting Porto on a budget and also spacious should you want to work here. There is studio space available on the roof, a large 100sq meters terrace and my studios which might be used upon request for casual tasks. Also my library can be consulted should be interested in art. We are very close to the campus (17minuted waking) and the city centre 10-15 by bus, car (garage available upon request) or cab. The airport is located 10-12 minutes driving and a 30-35 metro (Hospital de Sao Joao) trip which will cost you less than 2 euros.

Guest access

There are two shared bathrooms, the one in the pictures and another small yet fully equipped one outdoors by the kitchen. Storage and cloakroom are available upon request and small fee. Housekeeping comes once a week. Large kitchen equipped with Nespresso machine, kettle, several tee pots, etc!

Interaction with guests

I'm keen in meeting new people yet often busy at home working indoors or out in my artistic practice. Also I live between Porto and London. Surely we will find a way to have a glass of wine or a night out, exploring the city in a weekend or simply giving you some directions or treating you with some delicious pastry!

Bonjour Most of the commentaries as right so I won't make an add. Just because I didn't gave enough credit of it, yes the road is really noisy and if you need some calm it's not the right place, if not it's ok, good place for the cheap price. Thanks Hugo and his mother

Good clean house with lot of natural light and good areas. It has a lovely terrace in the back with a lot of potencial. The house is off center, but fairly close to the subway and with good connection to buses. The rooms facing the street are a bit noisy, don't recommend it to lightsleepers.

Had a very good stay. Hugo wasn't there but he (via messages) and his mother were very kind and helpful. The house was basic but clean, the kitchen well equipped. There are a few small groceries and some rather nice bakeries and pastelerias nearby. During daytime frequent busses will take you downtown or to the beach within 15 to 20 minutes while the metro is just barely within walking distance. I found it an excellent starting point to visit Porto and the surrounding areas. Like some have mentioned, the street can get a little noisy, so you might want to take earplugs with you if you're a light sleeper. Anyway, I'd definitely ask to stay at his place again.

Had a lovely stay at hugos. Hugo was away but his mother was there to welcome me when I arrived. Location is good, there's a bus just outside that goes all the way into the centre and nice light room. Cant complain really

I had a great time in Hugo's place. He house is in a neighbourhood pretty cool, near my Uni, close to buss stops and train station. As long as you keep your stuff clean, Hugo takes care of the rest. The house is fully equipped with all you need, pillows, blankets, kitchen stuff and whatever else. I had few problems and he was always able to work out them.

Hugo was a great host! From day one, he tried his best to make me feel at home. He communicated very well and gave me all sorts of advice for my stay in Portugal. He was really kind and intellectual, too- he could tell you all about history and art and that made my stay so much richer. The room was great. It was super bright with a nice little balcony. Hugo made sure to have the sheets changed and the floor sweeped every week. The bathroom was also very nice and clean. It was a pleasure to spend two months here. The house is a little far from the city center but it’s no problem at all because bus 600 takes you straight to the city center (Aliados) and bus 704 takes you to Rotunda da Boavista. You can also walk to the Hospital São João metro station and take the metro there. The neighborhood itself has kind people and very good and cheap food. All in all, I highly recommend staying with Hugo and I miss him!
