Make our 20's era home your base camp for your next trip to DC! Free and easy on-street parking, 2 blocks from multiple buses to Metro, the main floor bed & bath are clean and comfy. Double bed & dresser for your stuff. FAST WiFi for work & play!

The space

Just north of Washington, DC is the eclectic small town of Mount Rainier, Maryland - an oasis of trees, birds and bungalows that was the first "streetcar subway" of D.C. While sadly the streetcar is gone, Mount Rainier remains connected to the District by many buslines and two nearby Metro Stations. Our charming bungalow is on a quiet street, but just a couple blocks from the bus stop. Walk to GLUT, the local food co-op, or to Joe's Movement Emporium, where you can sign up for a yoga or dance class to relax while you're here. If you're a runner or biker, we're just a few blocks from the many miles of paved trail along the northwest branch of the Anacostia River.

Our main floor bedroom with full bed and bathroom w/shower are yours for your stay, and you're welcome to use our kitchen and share breakfast with us. Towels (and bedding) provided, and you're welcome to use our washer & dryer. If you're travelling with a child and need a night out (or have an evening meeting), our high school aged daughter would be happy to talk about babysitting with you!

There's plenty to read in your room. Feel free to enjoy our (very) hi-speed wi-fi, great front porch and rear patio with gas grill. For last minute printing needs, we have a color wireless printer. There is also easy & free on-street parking. We are often available to pick up or drop off at the nearest metro station, just ask.

Interaction with guests

I like to be home whenever guests arrive. Dennis has a home office and is often around to answer questions. We like to chat with guests but respect their privacy if they choose to keep to themselves.

Other things to note

We have friendly dogs and two generally absent cats, and while we can keep them out of guests' way, those with pet allergies or who are afraid of dogs should probably look elsewhere.

We stayed at Tracey's place for 3 nights whilst exploring DC. The location was great, with a car it was an easy to drive into DC or to the subway station if using public transport. Tracey and Dennis made us feel extremely welcome in their lovely home, and we would not hesitate to recommend to others. The room was clean and comfortable with our own bathroom, communication was great throughout, smooth arrival process - A really positive Airbnb experience. If we are ever back in DC, we'll be back!

Melissa and I came to DC to participate in the Women's March this past January. We both want to thank Tracy for being a great host. She and her family were helpful, welcoming and made us feel like we were staying with old friends. Couldn't have asked for more. Thanks so much!

Tracy and her husband are really welcoming and helped us a lot while we stayed there. They also have two friendly and sweet dogs. I would definitely recommend them if you are visiting Washington. Nice host!

Tracy and Dennis are very nice people, we appreciate them sharing their home with us! They have a beautiful house in the outskirt area of Washington DC. Downtown is easily reachable by train. Also thank you for the help with finding our way around and for the umbrella!

We had a great stay with Tracy and Dennis. There home is in a suburb very close to Washington. It is a typical home of the area with a swing seat on the porch. They have two delightful dogs and a cat. They are very quiet and leave you alone unless you want to fuss them - which we did. Tracy and Dennis gave us lots of useful tips about the local area they even offered to drive us to the Metro station and offered us Metro cards to use. We decided to drive and found it good but then we are used to driving in London. We found that if you park on the roads between the Smithsonian Museums you can get three hours free parking which doubles if you are a disabled driver. Three hours was enough for us in a museum and then we'd drive on somewhere else. Tracy and Dennis also provided a help your self breakfast and fresh coffee which was much appreciated.

Dennis and I have lived in the D.C. area now for over four years, after fifteen years in Montana (and one in NYC!). I have my own consulting business, Commonweal Consulting. We enjoy relaxing at home, particularly on the front porch or back patio in nice weather. In the summer we…
