Perfect place for aurora borealis hunting. The jacuzzi has built in lights just in case the real northern lights are too shy to come out.1 of total 4 bedrooms, all rooms are identical and well soundproof.

The exclusive villa is located near a riverbank at Seglbúðir, with a beautiful view of the landscape and river Grenlækur. In total 4 double bedrooms each incl. private bathroom, shared kitchen, sauna and jacuzzi . All rooms are the same and well soundproof.

The space

In complete peace and serenity, the exclusive villa is located near a riverbank, with a beautiful view of the landscape and the river Grenlækur. Including 4 double bedrooms each incl. private bathroom. All rooms are the same and well soundproof. By the villa is a sauna house and a jacuzzi.

It's a wooden house which gives it a very cozy vibe. At the same time it is very spacious, modern and luxurious.
All in all, the house has a high standard in accordance with the needs of our guests!

Guest access

It is beautifully located within the landscape and perfectly designed for the ultimate experience of Seglbúðir’s magnificent scenery. The facility was built as a fishing retreat so if your clothes get soaked in the rain they will dry off very quickly in the drying room.
Take a walk in the sacred solitude, dip your toes in the river and end the day in the sauna and jacuzzi with an iced drink.

From the living area there is direct access to the terrace, where, if you are lucky, you can watch the aurora borealis dance in the skies during the evening and night. That is of course if you arrive during winter.
During the summer you will most likely see at least one sheep, shy yet curious, strolling around with her two lambs.

Interaction with guests

Check in is at our home, a white house on two floors with a red roof. Take the road from the "Seglbúðir" sign on road 204 and take a left at the postbox marked "Reception"
We will guide you to the lodge from there.
We know the area very well so please don´t hesitate asking us if you need any info about the place or local advise.

Other things to note

We do not serve breakfast nor dinner.
If you're up for cooking we sell lamb directly from us, just let us know at least one day before so we can prepare it.

The next supermarket is at Kirkjubæjarklaustur, 10 km away from us.

We recommend the restaurant at Icelandair Hotel Klaustur at Kirkjubæjarklaustur, we especially recommend their lamb which is prepared at our slaughterhouse here in Seglbúðir. It offers both breakfast and dinner.

This place is even better than the pictures!! It's a beautiful guesthouse with all wood interior, it really has a ski lodge feel. There is a huge kitchen, wrap around porch, hot tub and sauna! We saw the northern light from the porch one night! The farm itself is gorgeous, stunning views. Location is close enough to town but far enough away that you really feel like you're out in nature. The private rooms are large and the private bathroom even has a towel warmer!! I only wish I had more time to stay longer!

Þórunn’s place is just gorgeous. It is quiet and away from the roads, so you can hear your own heartbeat and appreciate the wonderful views and wildness of Iceland. The beds were clean and comfortable and the kitchen was beautiful - well fitted out with every utensil you may need. I very much enjoyed my stay at Þórunn’s home and her family's hospitality and can thoroughly recommend her property.

This place is very nice, clean and fancy, it's a cozy and comfortable cabin located in the middle of a farm. Check-in was breeze because host was home, the photos are accurate. We are 3 travelers and got our own ensuite room and bathroom. The shared space - kitchen, living room and hot tub were really clean and nice. The only disadvantage was that the price was way too expensive, mind you, we came here in August and this cost like $440 per night. If the price wasn't this high, it would have been much better. But the place itself is perfect! Would recommend

We really enjoyed staying here. The guest house is BEAUTIFUL and so is the property. We enjoyed walking around and exploring the grounds and chasing the sheep and wish we had more time to stay here! The kitchen is well stocked, the rooms are comfortable and the hot tub and sauna were great to relax in.

We stayed here on our way to Jokulsarlon. It a remote, peaceful and beautiful place -- I took a lovely walk near the river. The house is lovely. Highly recommended.

You won't be disappointed. Completely as photographed. Beautiful, clean, modern home with quick check in and lots to explore (hot tub, sauna, property grounds.) Check in and communication were fantastic. Other guests in adjacent rooms were friendly and respectful. We'll be back!

For over 20 years I have been living with my husband at farm Seglbúðir which is a paradise for nature lovers. We built the villa in the year 2000 and have been welcoming fishermen and tourists to stay there ever since. On the farm we have around 250 sheep, 20 horses and a small…
