We chose Dominique's cottage because we wanted a quiet, restful holiday after a busy week in Paris, and it was a good stopping off point before taking the ferry at Roscoff.
The accommodation was simple but provided everything we needed. We particularly liked the rustic attic bedroom, which had a pretty window overlooking the countryside that you could watch through the delicate flowers in the window box as you sat up in bed. Quite magical!
We were made to feel exceptionally welcome during our stay. and Dominique really is a wonderful host who made our experience a very pleasurable one.
Sometimes his visitors choose his house because it is not far from St Malo, but we decided on this occasion to visit nearer to home. Thanks to Dominique's advice, we discovered the local area, which is breathtakingly beautiful. We went to Saint Jacut de la Mer when the tide had gone out and walked across miles of beautiful beach that is normal covered by sea. It was so relaxing and romantic. There is also a vast stretch of coastline which we drove alongside for ages and ages, which is magnificent. I am sure Dominique will tell you the route, if you are interested.
There is also a good supermarket in Ploubalay, a 10 minute-drive from Dominique's house, where we were able to stock up with high quality food and wine. It is a reasonable sized Carrefour Market. Next to it is very good shop which sells delicious bread and biscuits.
To sum up, we had a lovely time and would highly recommend this simple, but very pretty cottage in beautiful countryside. After a hectic week in France's capital, we had a wonderfully relaxing time in Brittany.
