About I grew up on the South Island of New Zealand and learned to ski from a very young age, I got a job working for the ski resort where I learned to ski and became skilled in everything from running the lodge and bar to operating the lifts and later becoming a ski patroller. In 2010 I was offered a job at a ski shop in Niseko, Japan. I immediately fell in love with the country and its culture, and of course the food and powder covered mountains. Although I enjoyed Niseko and made very good friends there something was missing. In 2013 I visited Hakuba, Japan. Upon arriving in Hakuba I felt this was the part of Japan I had been searching for, the enormous mountains, beautiful lakes, incredible forests and the amazing old Japanese architecture that collectively can't be found on Hokkaido. In November that year I moved to Hakuba and worked there for the winter months of the following two seasons. My dream had always been to own and operate my own ski lodge and in 2015 I was able to buy a lodge with spectacular views over the valley located on a quiet sunny hillside a stone's throw from the hustle and bustle of the Hakuba nightlife. Thanks and I look forward to hosting you Rus
