Mira Olas is the perfect choice when one does not need to be right in the center of town. It is a very short, beautiful walk up to a well cared for and certainly loved fruit orchard in the jungle. Lili, who has been tending the grounds for almost 30 years, is a delight to be around. From the initial emails to check-out she was more than willing to answer any questions and assist in any way. She is able to share much history and information about the area and all the plants and animal creatures in it. She can help you find boating trips, other adventure sports or schedule you a taxi. She left us fresh fruit most days and let us pick some manzana de agua right from the tree. She is a cool lady with good vibes and I could tell it made sense for her to be in Pavones. The Jungle Cabin is just as it was described. The bed on the main level was comfy and big enough for two adults to sleep just fine. Make sure to keep the door to this room closed, it does help keep some of the bugs out. The bathroom has a large shower-plan to use it during the day because there is no hot water. The loft had two beds with mosquito nets-we had our 16 year old surfer dude up there and he was comfortable enough. His only complaint was that it 'got a little hot' BUT! Lili has provided 2 electric fans that help solve that problem anywhere you experience it in the cabin. The main area of the cabin is so sweet! It's all open air on 3 sides with shutters on 2 sides so you can either create nice wind flow or block out the hot sun depending on the time of day. While sitting at the table playing cards and eating fresh fruit we were able to see 2 brightly colored Macaws in the tree tops directly in front of us. We could hear the monkeys stop by most mornings to have their share of the fruit. The kitchen has all that you will need as well- maybe pack an extra lighter for the gas stove because the humidity can ruin a pack of matches pretty quick. On the grounds of Mira Olas (check out the web site for more info) there is so much to do- hike to a view point to watch the surfers and the surf break, hike down to the Rio Claro and walk down stream to where it meets the ocean, take a jungle night hike with your headlamps and watch the ground sparkle like glitter (it's really just tiny spiders reflecting the light!) or just hang out in the hammock on cabin porch. In the town of Pavones make sure to stop by and rent some surfboards from Julie at Sea Kings Surf Shop, talk with Cheri at Bar Rest La Plaza while you sip a Pilsen,...

While there were 5 days out of 7 raining and sometimes heavily, but we still enjoyed the stay in the jungle house. regular visits of squirrel monkeys. Liz was very caring of us from arranging pick up from Paso Canoas to explaining of how to reach San Jose using local means of transport, for which we are very grateful. The prices in three local stores are really inflated, so whoever visit this place better do your shopping (especially beer and rum) in advance in other places and better trust Liz advises.

Elisabeth's jungle cabin is a real treasure. Everything was as presented. Although quite beautiful, the description and images do not give proper justice to the magical quality of this place. I give it 5 stars and then some. During my stay, Elisabeth was out of the country. I was impressed at her responsiveness, and prompt follow ups to my emails. Although, she was a not on site, I felt her presence and (URL HIDDEN) was as if she was actually "there". For the week that I was there, the property was being managed by a woman named Isa. Isa is a sweetheart and hard worker. She took care of all of my needs.

We had a wonderful week here. The location is amazing, with the surrounding jungle and fruit orchard attracting lots of animals - we saw Sloths, an Olingo, Humming Birds, Toucans, and Squirrel Monkeys! It's just a short walk to the beach or the beautiful river if you want to cool off in the day. We loved our stay, the house was perfect and Elisabeth was an absolutely lovely host.

Had the most relaxing stay here at the Jungle Cabin. Elisabeth is a wonderful host and is very responsive to emails. Walking distance to everything-food, beach, surfboard rental shop, etc. Wish I could stay here forever!

Lili was an excellent host and provided a great stay in her jungle cabin. This was my first time in Costa Rica, and I took a chance to stay somewhere off the beaten path, and I am very very pleased with what Lili had to offer. I will note this cabin is not for the squeamish :) seeing as the local geckos and anoles will be your roommates while staying here. There is also no hot water. This however did not bother my boyfriend and I, it was all a part of the experience. On a daily, Lili brought delicious fresh fruit grown on her property. She provided a booklet with all of the local "to dos," what to explore and what to avoid. She answered any and all of the questions we had. If you needed anything she was truly available to help, even offering her phone service and wifi options for very reasonable fees. Almost every day my boyfriend and I stopped for food or a beer in the Jolly Roger which was literally in the driveway of Mira Olas, and we enjoyed walking to the Rio Claro to cool off. There is a lot to explore in the village of Pavones, and I would have loved to spend more time there getting to know the people and maybe attempting to surf ;) With that being said, my boyfriend and I don't surf and even we found plenty to do! We took a local boat across to Matapalo, and I could have died and gone to heaven :) Very secluded, luscious green trees, beautiful swimmable beaches, we saw monkeys, toucans, macaws, giant iguanas and swam in a small cool waterfall pool. Needless to say my boyfriend and I were beyond pleased with out stay in Lili's Jungle Cabin and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a remote stay in the beautiful Costa Rica surfer or not !
