Restful, view, apartment on Anderson Island. Far away from the hustle of the city, but not so far away. Ride a ferry from Steilacoom WA, in South Puget Sound, to arrive at this unique island get-a-way. This space is perfect for a couple getaway, or a family looking for an opportunity to be away from the city.

The space

An upstairs space with 360 degree views of Sound, ferry, vineyard, woods, and garden. The breakfast bar gives the feel of surveying the scenery. Maybe an eagle will soar by looking for his morning meal. In the evening there is a fireplace to enjoy as you cozy up on the wraparound sectional under the windows. A supply of DVD's lends itself to more relaxation. There are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed, and one with two twin beds. There is one bathroom. There is 700 sq.ft. of living space.

Guest access

Guests arrive on the property and park near the detached garage. Signs direct you to the walkway to Driftwood Suite private entrance at the back of the building.
This apartment guest suite is above our detached garage with a private entrance. The 10 acre property includes a nice 1/4 mile loop walk thru the woods. Depending on the season, you may help with planting, weeding, or harvesting from our garden, orchard, or vineyard. A 10 minute walk thru the yard and down the road brings you to the saltwater beach with views of the ferry, Mt. Rainier, and the Cascade mountains. (These views are also seen from the apartment windows.)

Interaction with guests

I am usually available to help you access your guest space and to answer any questions. The lockbox combination will be revealed on the day of your arrival to access the key, if I am unavailable.

Other things to note

The kitchen is equipped with refrigerator, microwave, 2 burner hot plate, rice cooker, griddle, toaster oven, coffeepot, coffee grinder, waffle iron and electric tea kettle. We do not have a range. A Weber Grill is available upon request. There is a starter supply of coffee, tea, sugar, and creamer for your convenience. The pantry has some basic items to give you a jumpstart on your meal preparation. The island boasts a cafe, a restaurant, and a general store. There is wifi available in the suite, however it is 'island speed' of 3 mbytes, and shared with the main house. Sometimes it works well for streaming, and other times not.

Beth's space, the "driftwood suite", was perfect. It's quite sizeable-- there were only 2 of us staying, but I could see 4 or 5 sleeping comfortably. The view was gorgeous, and you're never more than a short walk or even shorter drive to anywhere on the island! If I was to travel to the island again, I would definitely stay at Beth's.

Anderson Island is a beautiful place to get away and relax. This trip was our second stay at Beth's place. Beth & Tim are such awesome hosts and such sweet people. Their guest suite has nearly everything you might need for cooking a light meal (pots, pans, hot plate, refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster oven with an actual toaster in it, dishes, utensils), watching a movie, or enjoying the scenery. The view is beautiful, looking out over their vineyard towards the ferry on the Sound. If the weather cooperates, there are lawn chairs to enjoy the quiet during the day or the stars at night. If you love walking trails, the suite is just a short distance from the many parks on the island. It's great place to relax. We're sure that return again!

Perfectly located between beach and lake. The space was exactly what we hoped for. Comfortable for a family of four.

This was such a magical, welcoming place to stay. The view from the many windows were so breathtaking. We were in awe. Beth and Tim were so gracious and we really enjoyed their company. I would recommend staying here to everyone. It is so worth the money. We can't wait to book our next trip!

We have travelled extensively as a military family. Now that we are settled on Anderson Island we look forward to hosting other adventure bound travellers. Family is important to us, so we welcome those needing some down time from the busyness of their regular schedules. We will try to accomodate each family so that you too can find the wonder of this beautiful place. I like to walk my yellow lab, Carley, cook for friends and family, and garden. Our family includes four adult children and spouses, and four grandchildren that love to come to the island for a visit and ride on Papa's tractor.
