What a wonderful, magical perfect vacation! The cabin was cuter and cozier than the pictures portrayed. We were greeted by the majestic flight of a bald eagle soaring over the lake, the sound of loons and the smell of the air cool and clean after a storm. It set the tone for a perfect week of of total relaxation. The cabin was clean, with fresh flowers upon our arrival, and the kitchen was well stocked. Deb was a terrific host providing everything we needed and tons of toys! Kayaks, canoes, hula hoops, frisbees, crochet, badminton, archery supplies- even wind surfing equipment we generously made available to us. Deb was there for any and everything we needed, but also gave us plenty of space to enjoy our family time. We never really wanted to leave the lake, but we did venture out to small falls one day and enjoyed its beauty although we missed the quiet of the lake. We wanted to visit the Wilhelm Reich Museum (who knew that was it Rangeley ME?) but it was closed on the weekend. I would say it was a perfect week!!!! We are already talking about the possibility of returning next year.
Debbie was a warm and caring host, and she and her family made us feel very welcome. The setting was picturesque - right on the lake, lovely swimming spot with chairs to sit out on. It was very quiet, and hearing the loon calls on the lake was something special! The cabin is very simple. One queen bed is in the sitting room with a little TV and some chairs, and the bedroom has a queen bed and a single bed. There is a grill outside - perfect for summer cook outs. At the time we visited the wifi was a bit weak, if you need it for work etc. - it didn't bother us because we were there to relax in the sun which we definitely achieved!! There are beautiful hikes in the area - one entrance to the Appalachian Trail is about 5 mins drive, and there is Smalls Falls and Angel Falls nearby. The village of Rangeley is very cute with a nice grocery store and some cute stores, plus a lovely little library if some indoor recreation is needed on a rainy day!
