Sam's place is an excellent, if not the best, option if you travel to Tripoli or are looking for a basecamp to visit the area. The appartment is spacious, very clean, has brand new facilities (all top notch) and 2 very fine and really friendly caretakers that can handle every problem for you. It features a really nice bathroom, a balcony with excellent views, a brand new full service kitchen, a great airco (important!) and a washing machine.
The location is a little outside the city center but that's basically only a pro. The place a very quiet while Tripoli itself can be very noisy, so better to stay somewhere peaceful. Minimarkets are round the corner and Sam himself is always willing to give you a ride in his deluxe Mercedes. To get back just take the very cheap service in the city center and ride along to the main way or ask the driver to drop you off at the door.
The best thing about the place is Sam himself. He is an superb host, always willing to help, took me out for lunch twice and was always just 1 call/(SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) away. Excellent communication. He's a smart and relaxt guy, happy to see you come and help you out. He know a lot about the country so you have a personal travel guide as well. Extra bonus point: his English is topnotch.
Last but not least: the 41 euro a night is probably the best price/value I have ever had, and for sure in Lebanon which isn't cheap, and I can say that I've stay in hundreds of accommodations. Sam and his place are definitely at the top 3. Look no further, this is the best option. Sam: thanks again my man for everything and hope to see you soon again! Michiel Verkuijlen.
