This is a fantastic spot with views across miles of Cornish sea and access to acres of sandy beach. It is warm, very comfortable and beautiful and filled with contemporary art and retro furniture, set in large garden area with outdoor seating and bbq. It is peaceful and a perfect place to 'get away from it all'.

The space

The chalet was built in 2010 and is in really good condition despite the wild Cornish setting! It is very cosy and has amazing views across the bay with great sunsets and access to an unspoilt long beach, great for playing, swimming (with care) fishing and a whole range of water sports. There is also a surf school about a mile along the beach. There is no mains electric so everything runs on gas and solar panels, so it has to be used sensitively and with care. Bed linen and towels are provided and the kitchen is fully equipped, including spices, condiments and cookery books (we like cooking). The bathroom has a shower, sink and toilet. There is also a shed and external storage boxes which contain body boards, wet-suits, beach games and BBQ equipment. There is a small calor gas heater which can be used in the winter, although the chalet is so well insulated that we rarely use it.

Guest access

You can use all the space including the shed (see house rules) and the mezzanine. All of course with care.

This is our chalet used very regularly and not set-up as a holiday rental. It is therefore full of relatively precious items. Please use carefully and always let us know of breakages. The waste is via a septic tank. It is vital that you do not put items such as nappies or anything substantial down the toilet.
Do not leave rubbish out but take away on departure. All used linen to be left in the shed. Use of the shed is entirely at your own risk. It is not fireproof and has no electric. If you are careful the electric will work for phone charging and playing music and some lighting but never use high energy devices such as hair dryers or straighteners as they will use up all the electric. There is no TV and NO internet! But you can get 3G and even 4G on some phones. It is not really suitable for more than a couple - perhaps with an infant. There is an additional sleeping platform with two single futon mattresses but it is all one space so in a wet spell with no internet it will feel small. Also please wash off all sand with outside hose before using the shower as it can clog the pipes.

We loved our stay here, the place felt really private, and had everything we could have needed. We had some average weather but the place was so nice and comfortable that it barely affected the weekend. We will definitely be going back here. Hosts were really helpful and messaged to check up on how we were going which was really nice.

I thought that this place was perfect for us. We will definitely return. It has everything you need for a stay ‘off grid’. At this time of year the batteries didn’t last very long, and we only used them for lighting at night, but this simply didn’t matter. Take lamps with you like we did. Also, for those who need access to the web, we had 4G signal on Three, EE and Vodafone! If you stay and love walking then the beach is perfect. It’s only a short walk (45 minutes) to Kingsand / Cawsand and the great pubs. Try them all! We travelled a little this time and had lunch at the Seafood restaurant in Padstow and dinner at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen at Watergate Bay. All perfect.

Stunning location right on the coastal path. We took our 3 month old baby for a few days in November & had an incredible time. A magical space with fantastic views. Warm and cosy although we also had great weather which helped.

This chalet is perfect. We stay on the cliff twice a year and this was our 6th different hut/chalet we have stayed in. We've stayed in big ones with all mod con's, we've stayed in tiny 'sheds' with very little comforts..... Ocean View is the best we have found. The space is so pleasing - spotlessly clean, personally decorated. It has everything you would need. It's warm yet airy and filled with lovely art and eclectic bits and bobs yet remains calm and simple. It's small yes, but because one side is practically all glass it feels so open. The view is uninterupted and the garden is the biggest we have had on the cliff. We come back again and again to the cliff and we recommend our stays with friends... but there's a fine line here - I'm tempted to keep this one to myself!

Thanks so much Caroline. It means so much to us when people love and appreciate the place. Our intention is to make sure you have as good a time as we do in the times when we can't be there. Come back again anytime! Thanks again for your kind and generous review.

Interaction with guests

We will usually be in the country and will respond by text or phone call. It is a very welcoming, small and friendly, clifftop community so people around will also help and answer questions.

About Adrian

My partner Andrea and I worked in a University. I used to make films and TV programmes. We taught social studies, journalism and media. We love to travel and are passionate about all aspects of culture. We read a lot, watch movies, cook tasty food and drink wine - sounds like a good life - which it is. We are lucky enough to have five children aged between 20 and 37. The oldest teaches in Japan and the youngest is a really good artist. In between we have a teacher, an office manager and a organic farming surfer! When not traveling we spend most of our spare time in our cliff top chalet called Ocean Waves at Whitsand Bay in Cornwall
