This is a fantastic spot with views across miles of Cornish sea and access to acres of sandy beach. It is warm, very comfortable and beautiful and filled with contemporary art and retro furniture, set in large garden area with outdoor seating and bbq. It is peaceful and a perfect place to 'get away from it all'.
The chalet was built in 2010 and is in really good condition despite the wild Cornish setting! It is very cosy and has amazing views across the bay with great sunsets and access to an unspoilt long beach, great for playing, swimming (with care) fishing and a whole range of water sports. There is also a surf school about a mile along the beach. There is no mains electric so everything runs on gas and solar panels, so it has to be used sensitively and with care. Bed linen and towels are provided and the kitchen is fully equipped, including spices, condiments and cookery books (we like cooking). The bathroom has a shower, sink and toilet. There is also a shed and external storage boxes which contain body boards, wet-suits, beach games and BBQ equipment. There is a small calor gas heater which can be used in the winter, although the chalet is so well insulated that we rarely use it.
You can use all the space including the shed (see house rules) and the mezzanine. All of course with care.
This is our chalet used very regularly and not set-up as a holiday rental. It is therefore full of relatively precious items. Please use carefully and always let us know of breakages. The waste is via a septic tank. It is vital that you do not put items such as nappies or anything substantial down the toilet.
Do not leave rubbish out but take away on departure. All used linen to be left in the shed. Use of the shed is entirely at your own risk. It is not fireproof and has no electric. If you are careful the electric will work for phone charging and playing music and some lighting but never use high energy devices such as hair dryers or straighteners as they will use up all the electric. There is no TV and NO internet! But you can get 3G and even 4G on some phones. It is not really suitable for more than a couple - perhaps with an infant. There is an additional sleeping platform with two single futon mattresses but it is all one space so in a wet spell with no internet it will feel small. Also please wash off all sand with outside hose before using the shower as it can clog the pipes.
We will usually be in the country and will respond by text or phone call. It is a very welcoming, small and friendly, clifftop community so people around will also help and answer questions.
My partner Andrea and I worked in a University. I used to make films and TV programmes. We taught social studies, journalism and media. We love to travel and are passionate about all aspects of culture. We read a lot, watch movies, cook tasty food and drink wine - sounds like a good life - which it is. We are lucky enough to have five children aged between 20 and 37. The oldest teaches in Japan and the youngest is a really good artist. In between we have a teacher, an office manager and a organic farming surfer! When not traveling we spend most of our spare time in our cliff top chalet called Ocean Waves at Whitsand Bay in Cornwall
