We hired the whole villa (all floors) for a really tranquil and secluded break. The house is a great size and feels really homely. It's more traditional in decor on the ground floor and more contemporary on the first floor apartment. This first floor has a wrap around balcony with sea and coast views (the sea being only about 30m down from the house with its own private gated access!). We arrived at night (Jose and Teresa were really accommodating in terms of times to meet us etc) so when we awoke and saw the views the following morning we were blown away by it all! The sunrises just before 8am were just amazing from the first floor or the roof terrace. The sound of the sea can be heard most of the time which we found really relaxing. There are lots of handy features like electric sun awnings and shutters. The pool is wonderful. Cleaned twice a week so it's crystal clear and fresh. There are great rock pools on the beach outside the house (you'll need beach shoes there because the rocks are almost volcanic so are rough and not safe to walk on without them). Children would need to be supervised here however just 2 minutes walk along the road takes you to a beautiful quiet sandy cove beach and it's quite shallow for a good way out when you go in the sea. There's also a stone beach just behind the lighthouse if you walk along the promenade or drive further down the road. This was perfect for snorkelling on a calm day as the water was crystal clear. There were waves most days but not too strong to swim and the sea was perfect temperature wherever we swam. As is to be expected take insect repellent for mornings and evenings as although we only actually saw a couple of mosquitoes some of us did get bitten but not everyone though...I was the main target! The town is spread over 1-1.5 miles along the coast abc its flat so a nice walk but there are shops a supermarket and few restaurants just 5-10 mins walk from the house along the sea front. Lovely bars further along overlooking the main front serving tapas, paella, gelato etc. Lots of nice restaurants up the side streets too many offering a 2 course 'menu del dia' for €10-12 with fresh local dishes. Delicious. Take a dictionary as not everyone speaks English. Really friendly and helpful locals though. Not overly commercialised which was just what we were looking for and the temperature was beautiful (still really warm and humid on a few days) one 20 min downpour and then lovely and sunny with intermittent fluffy clouds for warm days the rest of the time. No DVD player in the house but there is a smart tv (on ground floor - not sure about first floor tv) so you could log in to your own Netflix account if you needed to watch...
