I am sorry to have to write this review as I feel bad speaking negatively about a family trying to earn an income. That being said, I think I owe it to others to give an honest review. Check in: Went very smoothly. I was greeted by a very nice and smiling young lady. I was able to check in as soon as I got there (around 12:30 pm) and the process took no more than 2 minutes. The room: Was much worse than I was expecting. I was prewarned the floor would be wet because they just cleaned it... no problem. The problem was that I believe they only cleaned the main room floor as the bathroom was pretty dirty. There were many mosquitos in the bathroom (which for me is the one thing i care about most). Due to the mosquitos, I was not bothered by the multiple spiders/spiderwebs on the wall and the salamander on the ground as I was hoping they would reduce the mosquito population. The bathroom garbage had not been emptied. The floor and wall appeared dirty to me. I refused to shower in that washroom. The main area had a few mosquitos in it as well and I was constantly having to reapply deet throughout the day/night. This may not bother some but really made it hard for me to sleep. The sink in the main room still had food/garbage in the trap. If you do not have earplugs or are a light sleeper, you will certainly have trouble sleeping (atleast in the room i was in.. 101). There is an extremely loud water pump/heater thing right beside the window (outside) that goes on and off every 20 seconds at times and randomly throughout the day/night. Add in the planes that fly overhead, the roosters/cats/dogs in the morning, I am surprised I fot any sleep. I am at fault for not closing the window as im sure it would have reduced the noise a LITTLE, but the blinds had many mosquitos on them and just going near the window caused a stir as they saw fresh meat. The TV has strictly thai speaking channels and I personally wasnt fond of the area compared to the old city. I did walk to Nimman area, but unfortunately I did not like that area much either. All in all, I feel bad for leaving this review but I honestly had a horrible night. I should list some pros though : - The WIFI worked good for me - I had a meal at the attached cafe/restaurant that was priced well and taste quite good. - The cafe workers/front desk staff were very pleasant -The room was pretty big and the single bed was comfortable and not as hard as most thai beds (which i dont mind anyways) - There is a grocery store nearby and its not a bad walk to nimman and surrounding sois (if that is your plan) -It is possible you will not...
Kanya is very kind and helpful as a host. She entertained all the questions I had. She even went through the extra length of giving me a ride on the way to the airport upon checking out! The place is nice and spacious. Air conditioning and water heater worked perfectly. Location is pretty quiet and perfect for resting. It has some distance to the old city and Nimmanhaemin but considerably close (about 15 mins. if you're up to walking like I do). There are convenience stores/restaurants just a few meters from the place which is very strategic. Kanya has a restaurant (Cafe Suandok) just in front of the place which serves pretty delicious food so be sure to try that. Great value for money! You won't regret booking with Kanya.
