This is our reading nook. This would be your personal hang out space if you stayed with us. We also keep all our orchids here - we have 16 orchids in total. Most of the time, they will be your only company in this apartment as we both work a lot.We have a huge bathroom with double sinks, an a separate shower and soaking tub.

This modern, eclectic 1-bedroom in Woodbridge with big windows and a deck can be your retreat. Just a mile to the heart of Detroit, D.I.A and other attractions, our apartment allows you the comfort of home within this lively city.

The space

This open floor plan 1000 sq ft. apartment boasts high ceilings, wood floors, giant windows and the added bonus of a luxurious kitchen maintained and fully stocked by two Detroit Chefs who call this place home. Outfitted with tons of unique design detail (like the handmade cement counter-top and bathtub housing in the bathroom) this loft is spacious and will allow you privacy outside of the bedroom you'll be staying in. There is a reading nook set aside for your quite time should you choose to use it and a living room for you to hang out in if you're alright with being in our company!

Guest access

Our home is at your disposal. Feel free to cook yourself a meal, make yourself espresso, play darts or just relax on our over sized couch and read. We also pay for Netflix and Hulu should you want to snuggle in and watch something on our sizable TV. Access to WiFi is available as well so if you're looking to do work then you're all set. If you want to spend some time outside, just let us know and feel free to borrow one or both of our kayaks to tour Belle Isle or the Detroit River. The only thing off limits is the 2009 bottle of Chateau Neuf-du-Pape .... it'll be worth $1000 some day and we'd prefer to indulge in it then.

Interaction with guests

As mentioned, we both work long hours. We will not be present during your stay but we would love to meet with you to allow you access to the space. Our goal is to give you ample privacy. That being said, don't be shy if you DO want help getting to know the city or if you get lost - we would love to engage if you're interested in interaction with us!

Other things to note

We are new to Detroit and love to explore the area - we would love to do so with you if we have the time after or before work. So don't be shy to ask about the area and email us with any questions if you don't run into us at the apartment. We are in constantly communication with many business associates so we will be quick to respond should you need anything.

House Rules

We request that you keep the building secure by shutting doors behind you and locking the apartment before you leave. We're not neat freaks but we appreciate cleanliness so obviously we would appreciate that you tidy any mess you make in the kitchen, living room or bath before you go. You're more than welcome to our pantry (spices, dry goods, etc.) but we ask that any produce, meat or dairy you consume be brought in by you unless otherwise noted at the time of your arrival. There is a whole foods within 2 miles and the incredible Eastern Market on Tuesday and Saturday mornings - both great places to source fresh, local ingredients. We welcome pets but ask that they be mild mannered, well behaved, quiet, and that you clean up after them. We also request that if you choose to smoke you do so outside of the apartment on the deck. We live in a very friendly neighborhood so don't hesitate to go on a walk around the block.

My boyfriend and I are both from Ann Arbor. We are late joiners to the Detroit food scene. We are both sous chefs at different restaurants opening in Detroit this fall. When were not working we love to spend our time travelling and playing outside - we bike and kayak whenever possible. More often than not you can find us eating something, on a patio somewhere, with beverage in hand and good company surrounding us (sometimes our dog Quincy the Australian Shepherd). We love to work and we most definitely know how to have fun in our down time. As host we are pretty casual. We like you to feel at home and will try to provide you the comforts of home at our place. If you're not into food, books, movies and indulgence we may not be the best fit, but we'll try you on anyway! Come experience Detroit with our apartment as your gateway.
