If you love to be in nature, away from the city (approximately a 30 min drive away) - this is the right place for you! With its own private sauna, and a somewhat secluded location, you can relax and see the northern lights on a clear night - if they are active when you stay. We saw them on one of our nights and it made us so happy! Also, Päivi, your host, is so wonderful! She will take you ice swimming in the winter, perhaps, as she did with me ;) I loved it! We were very warm and comfortable in this place! I recommend you purchase a SIM card for your phone, since there is no wifi connection in the place, and it's very useful to have for making reservations, etc (make sure you have a way to get your phone open - they can do it at a phone store for you in the shopping center in Rovaniemi). Also recommend a really nice restaurant with traditional Lappish food in Rovaneimi city called Nili. Don't forget to buy any food you'll need in Rovaneimi before taking a bus or driving to your place - the nearest grocery store is far away! Kiitos to Päivi!

The cottage was perfect for a long weekend stay close to the nature. We could prepare our own meals, stroll around the nature, look after Arctic lights during the nights and relax in front of the fireplace and inside the sauna. Päivi and Jukka we're the best possible hosts: the drove us around Rovaniemi and gave us good recommendations on things to see and do in the city. I can highly recommend the house for everyone who wants to stay close to the nature, outside the tourism and live in a more authentic way.

We had such a great time. The sauna was great especially after snowmobiling for 9 hours in -30. We also saw aurora borealis right behind the cottage. It was an amazing stay and Päivi was very nice and helpful. Definitely would recommend.

Great little cottage alway from the city centre. Very cosy place with a sauna and a fireplace. Päivi was a great host. She greeted us at the cottage and informed us on everything we needed to know. Great place to view the northern lights. We were lucky to see the whole sky light up outside our cottage the night we arrived. Highly recommend.

It was really peaceful and beautiful. Päivi and Jukka are very warmhearted hosts. Thanks again for the invitation. Päivi helped a lot with all her informations. You don't have to worry about anything. We found the cottage as it was described and could spend some quiet and relaxed winterdays with snow, Husky and Santa Claus in wonderful nature. It was a good decision to rent a car because the buses don't go very often the day. All together: it's our wish to come back. Kiitos and hasta pronto :-)

We loved our stay. Was the perfect base for our family, (2 children under 5), to play in the snow and relax without any TV. Good old fashioned family time! You need a car but everything is easily accessible - we did Huskies, Joulukka, Santa Claus, snow mobiles. All wonderful and once in a lifetime. Particularly enjoyed going from the sauna into the cold starry night. Great memories are made here.

I was born and raised in Vikajärvi, a village 28 km north from Rovaniemi! In my opinion, the best ways to enjoy Finland at its fullest is to go berry or mushroom picking, skiing on a frozen lake, ice swimming or fishing on a sunny day both in summer and winter time. I hope to hear from you soon!
