About this listing
Well-lit room with full-sized bed, dresser & closet space in house in the heart of Silicon Valley. Quiet space with nearby groceries, restaurants and coffee shops. Newly remodeled, shared bath and newly remodeled kitchen are now usable as of November 2016.
Off Highway 85 nr 280, 237 and 101
No perfume/cologne pls due to migraines.
Private room with plenty of closet space.
Nightstand is setup with a lamp for your reading pleasure. Electricity is available at the nightstand and throughout the room for any phones, laptops, etc. I prefer to sleep with the house a bit cooler, so those in sync with me will be quite comfortable with no adjustment. Those who like it warmer will find a space heater in the room as well as extra blankets and an electric blanket.
I love meeting new people and am open to all cultures.
The bathroom is shared with the other guest room. I also use the shower as mine is under construction. Newly remodeled kitchen is now available for use by guests.
Guests will have access to the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen only and will have a key to allow entry at will. I do ask that no meat, other than fish, be cooked in the kitchen. However, there is a fridge for guests where one can put cold cuts or such.
Also, remodeling work can be going on during the day. I try to keep most work, and all noisy work, to normal business hours and try to keep this noise to a minimum. I will ask you to leave your door a crack open when you are not here, so I know when you have left and noisier work can begin. I try my best not to disturb my guests and the work will not affect your room.
Due to work taking place, there is currently no living room access.
Interaction with guests
You will receive as much or as little interaction as your introverted/extroverted personality craves. My goal is make you as comfortable as possible and provide you with a home away from home.
I'm an extroverted introvert, apparently, so I'm pretty flexible :-). I can be pretty outgoing, but I understand people who need their space.
Upon arrival, you will be provided with an information packet on getting around the area. Feel free to ask any questions, but I hope I've provided you with the basic information you need. Please let me know if I've left anything out.
If you find any issues (something I've neglected to clean, for example...I'm only human :-) ), please let me know.
Other things to note
Sunnyvale and most surrounding towns have a bag law, so they do not provide bags upon checkout. I will provide a few re-useable bags for your use during your stay.
If you need a checkin later than 5pm, please let me know before using Instant Book. I often can accommodate, but I need some notice and cannot always accommodate. I cannot ever accommodate checkins later than 10 pm though. Also, I will need a one hour window set on the day of booking for planning purposes. I understand that flights can be delayed and emergencies come up and we can work together to then find a time that works for both of us.
Please no smokers, even if you are not going to smoke in my home. The smell on the clothing is enough to set off a migraine for me...I'm sorry. I also cannot allow heavy perfumes, aftershave or colognes for the same reason :-(.
Also, no showers after 11 pm as it will wake me up. Other than that, normal courtesy regarding noise levels is expected and no heavy drinking, but social drinking is fine.
Please note the "moderate" cancellation policy and understand that if your plans change in the middle of a stay you've prevented someone else from booking the room.
Cancel up to 24 hours before your trip and get a full refund. Cancel within 24 hours of your trip and the first night is non-refundable.

I'm a 52 year old empty nester who loves hiking, biking, kayaking, dancing and all forms of travel. I love to learn about different cultures, which is one of the reasons I love living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Although I only speak English, I've actually studied a number of languages. I'm fascinated by them, but they just don't seem to stick.
I hope to be doing a lot of travel in the near future and can't wait to meet many new people around the world.
After surviving cancer, I learned you never know what the future will bring so make the most of today.
