The apartment is situated in a traditional Catalan block in a busy district. Barrio, El Clot has an authentic atmosphere and is really well connected to all amenities as well as café bars. It's 5-10 mins walk from 3 different metro lines.
This very comfortable double room is one of 3 bedrooms in our apartment. It is an old building simply decorated in the Modernist style with high ceilings and motif styling on the ceramic floors. This, and many others like it in the barrio, were built around the start of the twentieth century (1903-6). Many such buildings exist in this area giving it a very authentic residential feel as well as being an interesting place to visit. We have a separate shower from the WC and a small but fully functional kitchen. WiFi too.
The area is buzzing with local life and there are many café/bistro bars, most of which are very good, feeding the people of the area. They are always busy meaning that every day in the near by streets you will hear a lot of lively chatter which could be about something profound or nothing much at all. Its is very Catalan here with Spanish as a second language but many very helpful traders try out their English (and possibly other languages too) to assist customers. The night life for anyone who like to stay out till the small hours is mainly in the centre. This area is very residential closing relatively early and weekends are not much later either. Ideal for anyone who likes to get up in the a.m. for excursions, visits or a nice breakfast outdoors.
The room has a real, large, comfortable double bed and is fully equipped with things you might need for a short stay. These include, a clothes rail, a bedside table for books/maps/water/glasses etc, a heater in winter months, hanging hooks for coats, a window which opens and a key to lock it when you're out. It also has sockets for charging devices, a reading lamp and some original art on the walls.

We have a covered balcony which is extremely bright and sunny. It has a wall of windows to sit at and enjoy the tranquillity of a very large courtyard space to the rear of the building.
Access is through the main entrance to the building and we are on the second floor. Unfortunately, there is no lift but its an easy ascent. The apartment has only one door in the stairwell which is very secure. It has a double lock and a buzzer system that opens the main door downstairs.
Interaction with guests
We are here a lot of the time in between our commitments of work and studying. It is always a pleasure to help people especially here, pointing them in the direction of places we enjoy ourselves. There are so many interesting things to do here we don't know them all but we will be more than happy to help in any way we can. If you need help, we will do our best to explain, translate, direct, guide or figure out what you might need. If you are self sufficient or know the city well, you might inform us of a few more things we don't know. Or, if privacy is what you need, you are free to come and go as you please which we will fully respect.
We provide space in the fridge for your everyday snacks or drinks - yours only. Coffee, uht milk and tea are supplied and we will all share the rest of the kitchen. We will respect your supplies and we ask that you do the same for us. Any smoking is strictly at the windows to the rear of the apartment. However, non smokers will also have full respect too. This is a mutual way of sharing and respect for others is the best way for it to work. The building is full of many kinds of people including some older people and neighbours with small children. This must be respected at all times keeping noise to a minimum, especially later at night. We are NOT a party house and our guest agreement will reflect this when you read it.
We would like people to enjoy staying here as long as they know and respect the circumstances. It is our home as well and good relationships with our neighbours are important to us.
There is a large dining table in the living area and guests are welcome to use it for eating breakfast or having a coffee before heading out for the day. Or, on your return for a nightcap. We also have a smaller, 2 person sized, table at the balcony area which is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the sunlight. I and/or my partner Geraldine, will often be around in the morning but not usually for long. Sometimes we could share a coffee and a chat and some other days, not.

I have been living in Barcelona since September 2015 where I work and practice Art. I studied sculpture making techniques at one of the many art schools here in Between finishing a Fine Art Degree in Belfast. I also teach art making techniques along with my partner, Geraldine. I am interested in music which I love, the outdoors, cinema, travel, food, arts, culture and history. We have visited much of the south in Andalucía and having spent a lot of time in Sevilla, this is our first time living in Cataluña. Barcelona is a very open and friendly City, full of life everywhere with endless interesting things to do. Travelling is always a great experience with fascinating local ways of life, different foods, language, sights, sounds and smells. We love getting lost somewhere and discovering things off the beaten track. These could be simple things like a drink in a locals bar, enjoying an unexpected view of a place, taking in the language or relaxing in a square or a nice corner café.
