I stayed at Katie's apartment for 2 months while doing a research placement. Although we only overlapped for a short period katie was a kind and interesting host with lots of knowledge about Tanzania and tips for Dar! The apartment is spacious, light and surrounded by trees so makes a nice escape from the busy streets. It's situated in a friendly and quiet neighbourhood in between town and the peninsula, which was ideal for me. The dala dala station is just a 5min walk away or the centre of town can be reached by bike in 10 /15 minutes. Kristina the housekeeper was great and did my washing for the as the washing machine was broken. Just a note, I paid the utility bills while I was there which came to about 45/50$. Highly recommend Katie's apartment for long or short term visitors to Dar!

Katies apartment is wonderful in so many ways. It has a central location, from there you can go south towards the city center, west to Upanga and north to the peninsula. It is close to the beach, where you can see the sunset and feel the breeze. The apartment has almost everything you need of kitchen supplies, air con in two out of three bedrooms, mosquito nets, two bathrooms etc. There is a dining table and a more relaxed chill out area and two big windows of each side of the living room, where you have a beautiful green scene outside and it seems like it's quite private despite of the big windows. Katie was very helpful on text, as she was in the US, and her help Kristina was so kind to let me in and come during the week to clean and do laundry (perfect service). I have already decided to come back for a longer period! There was unfortunately two small power cuts and as everywhere a few cockroaches. But nothing you cannot handle and Katie and Kristina were very helpful! I can definitely recommend Katie's place.

Really liked the place, convenient location. The house looks run-down from outside, but the standard inside is totally fine. I didn't meet Katie, but her roommate was around and very helpful. It's Dar - so except hot climate. There a plenty of fans in the apartment which help you cool down - sufficient for me, but might not be for others. There is a nice living room to do work and hang out. Katie shared a helpful pdf file with information.

We've stayed at 4 different airbnbs in Dar and this room is so far the best value for money we've found. Katie was travelling during our stay, but she made sure that the housekeeper was there to let us in. She also checked in with us a couple times by e-mail to make sure everything was going okay. The apartment is very nice and well-located between Dar's city center and the Peninsula. The room is cozy and even though it doesn't have AC, the two fans did the trick of keeping us cool at night. Thank you Katie - hope we get to meet you next time we're in Dar.
