Interaction with guests
I mostly work from home, so I will usually be here to greet you when you arrive and farewell you when you leave. I'm also available to give you helpful advice about things to see and do, places to eat and shop, etc. - please don't hesitate to ask.
Despite the fact that Christchurch was just about flattened by an earthquake in February 2011, there is a lot happening around the city now which is very exciting, and so much of it is right on my doorstep.
Within 1 block:
Piko Wholefoods - for the health conscious, stock a huge variety of whole foods, grains, nuts, fresh vegetables, even organic wines
The Herb Centre Clinic, Dispensary & Cafe - naturopathic and homeopathic services, massage, nutritionists - also hosts a great cafe (mostly, but not exclusively, vegetarian) which serves excellent coffee
Pomeroys Brewery & Tavern (in short the neighbourhood local)
Little Pom's - our cosy neighbourhood cafe (great for morning tea, afternoon tea, or lunch)
Pack a picnic and take a walk along the Avon
Less than 10 minutes walk:
Beat Street Cafe - off-beat, hippy-chic cafe, serving great coffee and breakfasts (vegan & gluten-free options available)

Isaac Theatre Royal - spectacularly restored after the earthquake, this beautiful theatre hosts some wonderful productions - from opera to comedy, musicals to the ballet, and more
Take a tram ride - a great way of seeing and getting around the city
15/20 minutes walk
A few minutes more and you could find yourself enjoying
Christchurch Art Gallery
The Arts Centre
Punting or boating on the Avon
Closest supermarket is a little bit of a hike, or a bus ride away, but I do go to the supermarket most days and I am always happy to take you along to get supplies or pick up anything that you require.
Parking is on-street right outside if you are arriving and getting around by car.
If you are arriving by plane, you can get here by taxi, though that will most likely set you back in the vicinity of $50. Alternatively I offer a 24 hour pick-up and drop-off service to the airport - daytime rate between 9am & 10pm is $25, nighttime rate between 10pm & 9am is $35. The other alternative is taking the airport bus which stops just 3 blocks from my home.
For getting around the city once you are here. There are lots of bus stops within 2 or 3 blocks which service different areas of the city and all bus routes connect through the central bus exchange.
Other things to note
There is ample on-street parking, right at the door, if you are travelling by car.
It is usually pretty quiet around here at night, and if you sleep with windows closed the double glazing will ensure you hear very little noise if any. This is the city, however, and there can be noise on occasion - if you are a very light sleeper and prefer to sleep with the windows open (perfectly safe to do so), then please don't hesitate to ask for ear plugs.
I want you to feel welcome in my home, but please no additional visitors unless they are booked to stay.
Please be respectful of other residents in the complex and keep noise to a minimum after 10pm. If you are coming home late, please do so quietly.
The kitchen is not available for guest use, other than making tea or coffee.
No smoking and no pets.
Please remove shoes inside, and please avoid dragging/wheeling your suitcases across the floor.
This is a 100% drug-free home (including legal highs), and moderate alcohol only please.
Cancel up to 7 days before your trip and get a 50% refund plus service fees back.
I am a quiet, easy-going person with a passion for food, travel, yoga and photography.
I love to cook and eat, and enjoy all the wonderful food experiences and discoveries that I make on my travels. I also write a food blog which you can find here: (URL HIDDEN)
My daily yoga and meditation practices are very important to me. I used to teach yoga, having owned my own yoga school in Christchurch, which unfortunately met its demise during the big earthquake in February 2011.
I love to travel, love good movies, and in recent years have developed an interest in photography, though haven't really had the time to explore that and learn as much as I would like to.
