I really enjoyed staying at this hostel. It's really small, very quiet, excellent hot water in the shower, a good and inexpensive soda out front ( a soda is a small restaurant), its located on the outskirts of town, about a 5 minute walk and Jesus and his family are extremely hospitable and ready to help you with whatever your needs may be. I originally planned on staying 2 days, but ended up staying a whole week. I highly recommend this place if youre looking for a relaxing and inexpensive place to stay. The rooms are cozy and very tidy.
Great stay at a great price! Comfy bed, and the food in the soda out front is delicious. Some difficulty initially with no English translation, especially while trying to book a tour, but this was resolved after talking to a family member by phone. Very friendly, family-run business. Nice and quiet at night being outside main.
Karen's place is perfect for a traveler. It's close to everything in Monteverde. You could walk about 6-8 minutes to the bus station and shopping plaza if you choose. Marlon and his wife Ana are very welcoming. They both went above and beyond for me. They helped with transportation, my laundry and even made a last minute reservation for me for the Kinkajou night walk. Even though I spoke very little Spanish, they were patient with me and my many requests. Another awesome part about staying with them is their Soda "La Salvadita" that is connected! I had coffee, fresh made mango juice and their plantains with beans and cheese dish and I throughly enjoyed it. My first night, I arrived later than anticipated and they had no problem checking me in and even made me a sandwich because all of the other food places (including their Soda) were closed for the night. They are genuine and caring people and I appreciate their hospitality. The room was clean and I was provided with a fresh clean towel and an extra blanket. I had my own room key, I was free to come and go as I please without any trouble at all. The shower is nice and hot. Their family is so sweet. I am grateful I booked first night and extended my stay with them in Monteverde. I highly recommend them and would definitely stay with them when I visit Costa Rica again. Thank you both!
