This is a great location close to Harper's Ferry and other destinations. The house is lovely and has nice picnic tables where you can appreciate being in a rural setting with the charismatic goats and even a few cute piggies. You are out in the country here where cell service and wifi are not as they are in a big city. Relax here and enjoy the comfy accommodations. I am glad we got to meet Alice and thank her in person for her hospitality.

Before you rent here, make sure the sink in the master half bath has truly been repaired. We paid for a property with one and a half baths and the half bath was out of order upon arrival. Our host did not notify us in advance even though she knew of the problem before our arrival day. When I brought it to her attention she was nonchalant and unhelpful. A bottle of hand sanitizer and a heads up would have been nice. Honestly, it felt like a bait and switch. Also the wifi does not work at all. Frankly, it shouldn't be listed as a amenity on this property. The sheets were soft and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with all that you need to cook basic meals. We only made breakfast and lunch. The furniture in the living room is nice but because the wifi doesn't work, you can't use the smart TV they installed to log in to your own netflix or whatever service. At the end of our stay, I sought a partial refund after being offered nothing in return for the wifi and the sink issues. I was granted a 9% refund in the end. I had asked for 18%.

Response from Alice:
As I read this guest's review, I feel badly that their stay wasn't as wonderful as my other guests have had. I would also like to reassure that the half bath was and is still very functioning. The sink faucet water was running very slowly during their visit and I have since replaced it. The toilet was never a problem and the full bath was also fully functioning during their stay. I appreciate the positive comments about the comfortable bedding, furniture and kitchen supplies as I highly value those amenities. The wifi - we are in a rural area that has only ONE internet service provider and at times the service they provide is not the best. After receiving the guest's request for a 20% refund I immediately contacted other more experienced hosts for advice as I have never been posed this request before. Within 48 hours I refunded this guest 10% (not 9%) of my nightly rate for the inconvenience of the slow faucet in the half bath (although the more experienced hosts were concerned about a new growing problem of guests demanding large refunds for minor inconveniences). I appreciate the feedback as my goal has always been to create a comfortable stay for my guests and I will continue to so.

Our stay was very enjoyable. The home was very much as advertised and the goats were awesome. Alice was very good with communication and the check in was very easy. The house was lovely...beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows and towels as well. Alice was kind enough to leave a sample of goat cheese in the fridge for us upon arrival and the farm staff that we interacted with were super friendly. Our kids (9 and 10) loved the goats and we felt very safe letting them walk around on their own after getting oriented. The location is very good for activities in and around Harper's Ferry and the kitchen is well stocked for any cooking needs you may have. We had a great time!

What a wonderful place to stay! It was the perfect size for the six of us, plenty of space to enjoy our complimentary goat cheese. The kitchen was functional and that we were able to make a light breakfast for everyone in Christmas Day.

I booked Alice's farm house very last minute for a group getaway over the weekend. The place was the perfect size for our group that included adults and kids. The kids absolutely loved spending time with the goats. The adults devoured the goat cheeses left by Alice! The house is ideally located for those looking to explore the area around Harper's Ferry. We were able to venture to multiple locations in the region all within a 20 minute drive. It is a very good size and we very much appreciated the large eat in kitchen that enabled us to prepare and have breakfast and dinner all together. The layout also worked for us because we were able to put the kids to bed in the back room and still congregate in the front part of the house without waking them. Alice provided very comfortable beds and bedding as well as abundant towels. My only complaint would be that the one shower in the house was fairly dingy and the restrooms could have used a more thorough cleaning. However, given that I booked the house at such a last minute, this is somewhat understandable and it did not impact the comfort of our stay. Overall I would highly recommend anyone venturing to the MD/VA/WV junction to consider staying here and take advantage of all the are and this home have to offer.

Caprikorn farms is a charming goat farm. Alice met me and my two year old son in the driveway and explained how to get in the house and gave us a quick tour. She provided a complimentary cheese plate from cheese made right on their farm, and some goat treats for us to feed the goats with. (So fun) The house has it's own driveway and is far from any other buildings. It is made up super cute with brand new furniture in the living room. The pictures do not do it justice! It's really great for a family stay! The bedrooms are spaced out and are amazingly quiet. We didn't worry about talking at night though our son was in the next room, and he was very quiet when he woke at night. There's a bathroom in the master also, so you're not disturbing sleeping babies. The sheets are the best I have ever slept on! I found an extra package of sheets in the linen closet and took a picture of the kind so I can buy some for my own home. If you're into artisan crafting and locally made foods or history, this is a great jumping point. We ran across an apple cider (hard and soft) festival while there and left with some great stuff. There are battlefields and monuments and historic parks aplenty as well. If you're looking to come down the week/weekend before thanksgiving all the local farms and crafters are having a festival. It looked like fun. This is a farm though. If you're not okay with some farm fresh air, or you need super fast wifi, this may not be for you. As for us, it was a perfectly placed retreat, with enough convenience and comfort to keep us happy.
