Welcome to the Swan Mountains Guest Suite! Sitting on 10 acres just outside Glacier NP (West Entrance), this suite is centrally located in the Flathead Valley amid hundreds of year-round recreational activities. After a day exploring or hiking, you can look forward to coming home and relaxing in this clean & comfortable suite with its Tempurpedic King Bed, mountain views, kitchenette, huge bathroom, and many special touches. Why put up with noisy hotels? You'll love the quiet and privacy here.
Bright and modern, this sparkling clean, stand-alone guest suite features a Cal-King Tempurpedic bed, and a large bath with dual vanities, towel warmer, walk-in shower with two showerheads, and a private toilet room.
The comfortably appointed living room includes two loveseats, large ottoman/coffee table, 32-inch flat screen HDTV (local channels, Roku with Netflix and PandoraPlus) with in-wall surround-sound speakers. Top-down, bottom-up cellular blinds allow privacy while still allowing you to enjoy the views and let light in. There is a drop-leaf dining table with seating for two. The kitchenette features full-size fridge/freezer (with ice-maker), Culligan bottled-water on-tap, KitchenAid smart toaster/oven (fits a 12" pizza), electric fry pan and microwave. There is no cooktop or ventilation hood, so guests should plan on light cooking only (gas grill on patio).
The suite features heated stained-concrete floors throughout. Our guests often enjoy sunsets and an evening beverage on the large patio, which includes a picnic table, gas fire pit and Weber gas grill (fire pit and grill available April thru September).
Whenever possible, we use products that are local, organic, non-GMO and/or natural.
How do you like your coffee? We appreciate great coffee, so you won't find any stale hotel-like packaged coffee here! We have a number of brewing options available -- from AeroPress to Drip to French Press -- and we provide Montana Coffee Traders coffee (fresh, locally-roasted, organic, and we grind the beans just before you arrive). We also provide an assortment of teas, cocoa, spices, condiments, and other goodies. A small but well-stocked market is just a few minutes up the road. We have a laundry pair available to guests on request (No charge).
While we don't cook breakfast for you, you will find an assortment of breakfast items stocked for your stay.
This guest suite can accommodate one or two people only (no extra people).
Keyless entry means no keys to lose and you can check in late if your arrival is delayed (although we are usually up late).
We have strong 5-bar cell signal (Verizon) at our location. (Note that most of Glacier Nat. Park has no cell service). WiFi is available in the guest suite.
We have lots of parking space, so if you are towing a trailer, there is room to park it. Our property is a 'work in progress' with continual improvements being made to the landscape and amenities---but we never allow work to disturb our guests.
Our nightly rates vary due to seasonal demand; Rate includes 7% Montana State Accommodation Tax.
This is a stand-alone guest suite with private entrance in a building separate from the owner's residence on a 10 acre site. Keyless entry means no keys to carry...or lose. The site is mostly level and the suite is on the ground floor with no stairs. Feel free to walk on the open grassy site, watch wildlife, or visit the neighboring horses (they love carrots and apples).
Interaction with guests
We like to welcome our guests and show them around the guest suite when they arrive. After that, we leave you be unless you need something or have questions. Although we live on-site, the guest suite is very private with no window-to-window line of sight. We are happy to share our knowledge of the area and provide recommendations. You may see us working in the yard or in our large vegetable garden. In season, we are happy to share fresh veggies from the garden with you. We have our own friendly pets, who you are welcome to visit with...or not.
Other things to note
Our nightly rate varies due to seasonal demand. The rate includes a 7% Montana State Accommodation tax. We operate in a highly seasonal market, so please note that our cancellation policy is "strict" and Trip Cancellation Insurance is strongly suggested.
Shortly after you book, we will send you a link to our online guest welcome book. It can be viewed from any computer or smart phone. It includes info about the guest suite, the area and restaurants, and things to do. There is also an interactive map. The restaurant listings include web-links to the map and TripAdvisor and/or a business website.
Bear Spray is a "MUST" when hiking in the area. We usually have Bear Spray (with holsters) that you can borrow, but it is widely available for purchase here as well as for rent---just search online for "Glacier bear spray rentals." Glacier National Park and the surrounding wilderness where you may be hiking, are BEAR COUNTRY. Bear Spray is NOT allowed on commercial airlines---nope, not even in checked-luggage. Please look online for instructions and videos about the use of bear spray and how to be BEAR AWARE! (links are included in our online guest welcome book)
We have dogs and cats that live on our property; however, they do not enter the quest suite.
Weather-wise, you just never know what Mother Nature will dish out in Montana. Evenings are cool--even in summer, and a 40-50 degree temperature change in a day is not uncommon. The rule here is to dress in layers so you can add or subtract depending on weather. The suite has an extra heater and extra blankets in case you need them.
We set up an air-conditioner in the suite for the summer.
We attempt to keep rules to a minimum, but good rules make for better understanding.
Clean, well-behaved dogs may be allowed with ADVANCE approval (please contact us and provide details about your dog BEFORE booking). Dogs are not to be left unattended in the guest suite . Your dog must be leashed while on our site and you must immediately pick up after your dog. We provide a dog bed and have crates available to loan, so kindly keep your dog off the people bed and furniture.
The entire guest suite and site are NON-SMOKING.
This is an awesome place in a peaceful and quiet setting---we expect that our guests are here to enjoy the peace and quiet and won't do anything to disturb us or the neighborhood. Visitors are not allowed. While we do a thorough, professional cleaning between each guest stay, we kindly ask that prior to leaving, you clean and put away any dishes or kitchenware and wipe up or sweep up as needed. A laundry hamper is provided where you may place towels and sheets at the end of your stay. We certainly don’t expect you to clean the place when you leave, but a decent level of tidiness is appreciated. This helps us get through our cleaning process more quickly and allows us to keep our cleaning fee low.

Married for 18 years, Tom is a retired Deputy Fire Chief and serves as a board member for a healthcare non-profit; Lisa is a retired business owner (pet sitting/dog walking) and volunteers at the local animal shelter. We spent the first half of our lives near the Puget Sound in NW Washington State; now, we like living in the mountains of the northern Rocky Mountains. In summer, you'll usually find us working in our yard or vegetable garden. In winter we enjoy playing in the snow. No matter what the season, we love spending time with our much-adored dogs and cats.
We care a great deal about our guests' experience and satisfaction. We go the extra mile to ensure our guest suite is clean and comfortable and we source high-quality amenities throughout the guest suite.
