Rafa is a very responsive host. The location is amazingly central. The flat practical! The immediate surroundings are not too clean but the central location and price makes it worthwhile.

A great place within a few minutes walk from excellent bars, restaurants, shops, and monuments. The appartment is on the 1st floor in a small and quiet street. 2 big beds and a great couch. We felt welcomed and everything went fine. I strongly recommand Rafa's place.

Rafas apartment is great. A/C works well has two full bedrooms a kitchen and a bath. The apartment was good wifi and Rafa is a fantastic host. The apartment is very pretty on the inside and overall we had a great stay in madrid. The only negative thing that the apartment has is the small shower. The shower only fits one person and the water could easily go to the floor of the bathroom.

The apartment is really clean and cozy with the perfect location at the centre of Madrid. It's really convenient to go to any places. Rafa is also a great host who is reachable easily and helpful. I definitely recommend Rafa's place! :D

Spent two nights at Rafa's place with my family. Now, when I was looking for places to stay in Madrid, reading reviews really helped me narrow down my choices so in this case, I'm going to try to do the same for others. First the good: Rafa's place was relatively clean (coffee-maker looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while and there was some dust on the headboard of the bed) and the location is a few minutes walk to Plaza Mayor, museums, and several other of Madrid's attractions. Beds were comfy, wifi was strong, and air conditioner worked well (it was hot during our stay so AC was a necessity). The not so good: There is a considerably steep flight of stairs to go up to get to the apartment (never saw this mentioned in any reviews or in the location description). We each had considerably sized luggage so this was a rather unpleasant "surprise". Shower was small and difficult not to get the floor wet, had to hold shower head in your hand to avoid this. Location. This part's the tough one. Anyone ever been to the West Village in NYC? I LOVE the West Village but it can be a bit seedy if you know what I mean. Rafa's neighborhood is very much like that. Lively, multicultural, bohemian - good things to some, not so good for others. Walking back on both evenings we passed several young people smoking weed in the streets. Now, we never felt unsafe (we grew up in the Bronx) but if you come from a gated community in the suburbs and you're bringing your seven year old with you, this apartment might not be the place for you. Lastly, the walls are paper thin. I mean paper thin. You can hear everything going on in the apartments around you. On our two nights there, one neighbor (a woman with a rather strong voice) must have been hosting her own radio show and taking calls because she went on all night. Not sure to whom she was speaking but on both nights that we arrived back at the apartment (once around 11pm and the other just after midnight), this woman went on until after 3am. I felt like I was staying over at my mother's apartment in the Bronx. Not exactly Rafa's fault but that woman might be a problem to light-sleepers. Not trying to be an ungracious guest but had I known some of these things before booking, I might have booked elsewhere. Overall we had a good stay at this location and if you're a group in your twenties that stays out late and enjoys a more bohemian location to stay in Madrid (walking distance from main attractions, bars and restaurants), this might be an ideal place for you.
